Ok, so I've got 4 days planned! :lmao: But it's not worth the flight for that...we would like to add a low key and relatively CHEAP week or so to our 4 nt cruise, roughly Dec 13-20. But where? We've found a little information about water temp, we were thinking Sanibel, but the water will be mid-60's F. I dunno, is that good? Anyone know the average summer temp of the Strait of Northumberland?? ;) Or maybe Melmerbey or Shediac beaches...hard to know what's warm enough for a Canuck. (I can't take what a Yank says about temperature seriously, unless maybe they're from Minnesota or something!) Dh really wants to know he'll be warm. We were in Orlando late Jan/early Feb last year, and had some really crappy weather. He took the kids to Cocoa Beach the day I went to Kennedy, and found it really cold.

So, been in December? Where? Could you beach comb? Wade? Swim? I'm thinking, if it's shorts/wading weather, we could play on the beach and swim in a heated pool at the hotel...:confused3

We have spent 5 weeks at different beaches in Florida in the last two years (and will add two more weeks to this later this year). We always do our beach weeks in Dec/Jan

This is how I see it:

The east coast has much cooler water temperatures vs. the west coast.
Obviously the further down you travel, the warmer the air and water temps tend to be.

We have found that the Daytona Beach (North east Florida) area water temps to bo downright freezing in Dec/Jan. Won't be doing that again.

On the other hand, Siesta Key (Southwest Florida) was MUCH warmer (air and water temps) and also offers a fine amazing white sand. I rent a condo in Siesta Key from an owner I found after what felt like months of pouring over rental sites. It is across the street from the beach and is one bedroom with a pull out queen in the living room. It is spotless. It is in an older very well maintained building that offers nothing in the way of activities but does have a nice heated pool. The beach is about a 2-3 minute wlk away. We felt that the condo complex and surounding area to be extremely safe. He usually rents it for one week periods. The time period you are looking at would be I think $425/wk plus 11 percent tax. If at all interested, drop me a pm and I can give you his name, phone number, web page listing etc.

A friend of mine often rents a place on crescent beach which I believe is close to where you are saying. The water is clear and the sand is snow white it is so pretty!

RIU Girl, thanks that's really good info, and yes I'd be interested in the spot you mentioned if you want to PM me. Thanks!

Yes, thats the beach we walk to. I remember the first time I saw it, quite the WOW effect. Nice as most Caribbean beaches I have been to.
