Has anyone been to one of the Beaches resorts that have the Sesame Street characters? We love Disney and have a cruise planned but my DH wants me to see if going to Beaches would be less expensive and if the kids programs are similar? My kids will be 2.5 and 4 during this time.
Thanks in advanced!

I've never been, but my best friend has. She said it was a complete waste of money and it was more expensive than the DCL cruise she took. She said the food was mediocre at best, and the kids clubs were boring for her kids. This is also the same friend who went on a DCL cruise and didn't like it, so take it with a grain of salt. I've been to Sandals and I have to agree that the food that company provides is horrible and not worth what they charge. DH and I have looked into it, and it's usually about the same price, if not more expensive to go to Beaches than cruise with DCL.

Thanks for the info, Lori. DH and I are considering an all-inclusive land resort for his 40th and we'll be taking the monkeys. I was looking for opinions on Beaches and this helped.

Thanks-
Erin :)

Thanks for the response. I was surprised to see that the rates were the same, if not higher than the DLC. We will stick with the cruise. I went to their web page and wasn't too impressed either. Kiddos like Mickey better than Elmo anyway :wave2:

I researched Beaches as well. The cost for the cheapest room there was just as expensive as my Cat 4 cruise and after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor (where there was 1 lukewarm review to every "avoid at all cost" review), I was turned off. Plus DD5 has just about outgrown Sesame Street. Mickey and friends have a more universal appeal (IMHO).

My friends went to Beaches in Jamaica in October and said the place looked pretty rundown. They liked an all inclusive south of Cancun much better. Something like Paradiso Riviera or something like that. They said the kids club, food, drinks, and upkeep was much better than Beaches.

Hope this helps,
Sue

Beaches in Turks & Caicos was awesome. Best all inclusive I have ever been to. Only second best to DCL.

Hey Godess, you have any info you can pass along on Beaches Turks and Caicos, I'm waiting for the airfare to become available, so that I can get a price for 2006. My friend is leaving Saturday for that all inclusive Riviera place in Cancun. I'm waiting for her to come back to let me know. The price I got for Beaches, which was an estimate with last years air, was somewhere around 6 grand, I only paid $3500 for my upcoming cruise during spring break with air so it seems to be much more expensive than DCL. The only thing is, alcoholic beverage are included so I guess if your a heavy drinker it may be worth it, but we're not, so I'm still undecided. :confused3

We just returned from Beaches Turks and Caicos in November. My kids at that time were 13 months and 6 years old. This is our 2nd visit to Beaches. We were also on a DCL back in 2001. We love Beaches. To us the DCL is not relaxing, always on the go, to excursions, dinner at a certain time, shows at a certain time, etc. Beaches is as active or relaxing as you make it. We thought the food was good, just as good as DCL. My son LOVED the kids club and would have went everyday if we let him. The workers were very friendly and great with the kids. Sesame Street is cute . We did the character BF, but DS is kinda old and DD kinda young. We loved DCL too and will do another when DD gets a little older but we do like Beaches and think it gets a bad rap alot of times. I agree it is pricey but we think worth it! Any questions feel free to PM me.
