Beaches & Cream - Walk Up Options

We'll be staying at BC this December and were looking for a lunch option outside of the parks when we came across Beaches & Cream. I'm late to the party and cannot get a reservation, but would really prefer not to if I don't have to since our plans aren't firm that day. I've read that the counter seating is on a walk-up basis. Is it reasonable to expect we may snag a seat as walk-ups or is this a must have ressie place? Also, I heard they have a to-go window- is this for ice cream only? TIA! :thanks:

This restaurant is so small that you should probably not anticipate being able to get a seat unless you have a reservation. Especially if you have a larger party. If it's true that they hold back the counter seating you might try right when they open for lunch.

No food at the to-go window - beverages and ice cream only.

Before the ADRs were available for this place, we did a walk up for real food, not ice cream. We were warmly greeted and seated at the counter inside. Where we were ignored for ten minutes. No contact from the server at the counter at all. Meanwhile, the "to go" window was doing a busy business and there were plenty of people helping out there (it was just to our right). But we sat and sat. We finally got up and walked out and told the seater person that we were leaving because of the lack of service. She exclaimed, "there's no way that is possible!" and then led us back in, to the same darn seats we had before and our server showed up a few minutes later with nothing to say, took our order and then left. We did get our food but it was a dismal experience. We will never go back again. Oh - I think the server said "thank you" when we paid the bill.

The counter is indeed walk-up. It's a roll of the dice- you have to go there with realistic expectations of being turned away. We lucked out with it last August (late in the month, so a slow time). Got five stools (with twin two-year olds!). It went surprisingly well.

We waited about 20 minutes outside.

There is always the hot dog cart and the pizza window across the lake! Both are great options - as is the Boardwalk Bakery! Nice, not busy, quick food.
PS: I had Beaches & Cream once. That was enough for me - it totally sucked (we did carry out once staying at the Boardwalk, wish we had done the hot dog cart!).

Great feedback, thank you everyone! I'm thinking we'll swing by and see if we can get a seat at the counter, but from the sounds of it, if we can't it may not be the end of the world :flower:

Don't know if this helps at all but this is the to go menu if you can't get an ADR (from Nov 14 - so prices may have changed).

And keep checking for an ADR if you do want to go - I scored a lunch ADR 10 days out from my trip.

I have heard that Hurricane Hannahs at the pool area has good/better hamburgers etc than Beaches and Cream. Maybe try there for a counter service meal?
This actually used to be the case for beaches and cream and hurricane hannah's. Now unfortunately these are the same burgers you can get anywhere in all of wdw.

without an ADR and a large party you probably won't get a seat. if it's just 2 or 3 of you then you can quite possibly land a seat at the counter which i have done and my the 5yo thought it was the coolest thing ever….especially the Kitchen Sink

Does Beaches and Cream have the same hamburgers as all of wdw too??

I used to get the steak sandwich. And then the beef sandwich when they changed it. And now it looks like maybe even that is gone. So I was thinking about getting the burger. But if it is the same old... same old burger, I will get the chicken sandwich.

Maggie with all do respect, what does this even mean? There are all sorts of different hamburgers throughout WDW. McDonalds, Pecos Bill, Hurricane Hannah's, Picabu, Chefs de France, Grand Floridian Cafe. And each of those burgers taste different than the next.

I've been told that all the hamburgers in WDW have gone to the SAME hamburgers for bulk purchasing purposes. See the post above mine by River Country (and many others). Maybe not at the sit down places? But I am not sure. That is why I was asking about Beaches and Cream.

Truthfully I can't remember the last time I had a burger at WDW. Maybe it was at Sci Fi many years ago.

I had a Beaches burger in November 2014 and thought it was delicious. It's not a steak burger. It's just a greasy, mouth watering burger that you would envision when thinking of an old school diner.

I was just at Beach Club and they use to have the most awesome hamburgers at Hurricane Hannahs out by the pool. Now they taste like all the rest. My daughter noticed it as well. We were at Beaches and Cream quite a few times and it was always packed. We had reservations the one night and just got hot dogs and onion rings. Both were pretty tasty as far as that goes.

They still hold the counter for walk ins. This is difficult if you have little ones and of course a high chair can not be accommodated at the counter. Now the burgers. We just return last weekend. We ate here twice. While they use to have great burgers and even a great roast beef sandwich, sadly that has ended. They burger was small and tasteless. We have a trip for September and late October. We came home and cancelled both of those dinner reservations. We will continue to stop by for ice cream, but no more dinner. We looked at the small burger with some fries thrown on the plate and said $15.99 for this....wow. We still have ice cream reservations for both upcoming trips. I do have to say that the burger at the plaza restraurant is still great.

We got a walk up and sat at the counter. Our server was very busy, but also chatty and attentive. The food is what it is. The Ice Cream was the star - Birthday Cake Flavour!

Thanks for all of the feedback. It sounds like if we may be better off just trying to get ice cream from the take out window. The reputation Beaches & Cream had for great burgers drew me in but if they are just ho-hum, we can probably grab something quicker, better and cheaper elsewhere and circle back for to-go ice cream if that's where they really shine!
