Anyone tried Beaches & Cream lately that can give me a quick review? Also, have heard that there is a boat launch from BC to Boardwalk - is that true? Am thinking perhaps a relaxed dinner at Beaches and Cream and then a ride on the launch to Boardwalk for an afterdinner stroll. How is the atmosphere at the Boardwalk? It will be myself, DH, DS (11) and DD (almost 3). Any opinions / experience? Thanks!

Beaches and Cream is done in a retro diner / ice cream shop decor and offers menu items like would expect to get at such a place - Burgers, club sandwiches, and kitchen sink sundaes. The food is pretty good - check out the menu for yourself on Allearsnet.com

I see you're new on the Dis - Don't know where you will be coming from to get there but it is a quick walk through International Gateway in World Showcase (Epcot). If you are coming from your hotel it can be tricky to get there if you do not have a car. The Disney Transpotation system does not go from Hotel to hotel, so keep that in mind. Tell us where you are coming from and we'll tell you how to get there.

Now - about the Launch. Yes it does go from BC to BW (on it's way to MGM) but you might as well walk - it is that close. The resorts face each other across a small lagoon. Once you are there you will see what I mean. By the time you walk to the dock - wait for the launch, board and get over there, you could have already been enjoying being there. There are surrey bikes for rent, a candy and pizza shop, a booth to get ice cream, several resturants, a souvenier shop and a few strolling entertainers (magicians, and musicians etc) You can purchase adult drinks with plastic cups for strolling from the brew pub there if you wish. It's nice to kill the time between dinner and bedtime, but I would not stress yourself out just to get over there if you have limited time. Hope this helps...

I wish I could tell you what a relaxed dinner there is like but I can't. I went intending to have dinner when I was there a month ago and the place was a madhouse. The wait was an hour and a half, so we got dinner from the takeout counter. Even that was tough since all of the outside tables were full. I'm not complaining, it's tough to get into a place that doesn't take reservations, and lots of people just had the same idea that we did that night, but just a warning that you may get there and not be able to get in. I will say that I certainly didn't starve, and the burger, fries, and sundae that I got from the takeout window were :thumbsup2 Next time around I think I'll try my luck at lunchtime. Maybe it will be easier to get in.

Hi ... I just wanted to say that Beaches & Cream is awesome - especially the desserts and shakes. It can be kind of crazy but its worth it. Also, we noticed that its best to go at off times. Enjoy!

Is it always tough to get in there? What time were you trying to get in? I've heard such good things about it that I was hoping to walk in on a Thursday night in early November, probably around 9pm. Should I make a reservation?

Beaches & Cream does not take ADRs of any kind--once you see how small it is, you'll understand why. :) But the food is great & worth the wait!

It's just a short walk over to the Friendship boats from the BC resort & about a 3 minute boat ride over to the Boardwalk. It's a nice strolling area over there with a lot to see. :)

Does anyone know how late they are open on Sunday nights?

Our first night at WDW in Sept. we will be at Epcot... After Illuminations we plan to walk over for the last couple hours of activity on the Boardwalk... Maybe check out Jellyrolls after 11:00... I think it would be nice to have some ice cream from Beaches while we are there... Do they close at 11:00 like the other shops?...

TIA... :cloud9:

Yes, they do close at 11.

At least they did when we were there last.

The food is great though (IMHO), and the No Way Jose is a thing of dreams!

Try it........

It is our Disney World must do. It is definitely worth the trip.

AHHHH. Beaches & Cream. Our top all time favorite for burgers and NO WAY JOSE. It's our first stop as soon as we check into BCV and at least a couple of other times while we're there. Love it, love it, love it.

Go here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=773269 and look for post numbers 98, 391, 930 (which has just about the best picture so far).

Number 930 is on page 62 of the thread.

Chocolate and vanilla Ice Cream, hot fudge, peanut butter, whipped cream, tollhouse semisweet morsels and peanut butter morsels, and a cherry.

YUM!!

Here are my reviews from last month that I'm reposting here:

Lunch at Beaches and Cream
This was our first time here. We ate at the counter because the tables were full. This was not a boring restaurant. I had the chicken sandwich, and DH had a cheeseburger. We both had a choice of French fries or fresh fruit. I had the fruit, and DH had the fries. Both entrees were good. Then we split a vanilla milkshake – yum. I can’t remember the last time I had a milkshake. While we were at the counter, we saw the CMs making sundaes. I couldn’t believe how large the sundaes were! We enjoyed our lunch and would definitely come back.

Late night snack at Beaches and Cream
We had dinner early, and DH was hungry around 10:30 pm. We decided to go here again. We sat at the counter again because the tables were full – is this place ever not busy?! DH had the grilled cheese. Since we were at the kitchen counter, we got to watch them making the sundaes again. I had really wanted to see someone order the kitchen sink. And lucky for us, they made 2 of them. I thought the sundaes were big, but the sink was no match for them! They container they were served in actually looked like a sink. I saw them put in many scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and mint chocolate chip. But first they put some sort of sauce (chocolate or caramel?) at the bottom. Then they put on many toppings – sauces, whipped cream, chocolate chips, etc. I think my mouth was hanging open because I couldn’t believe how large they were. I had heard about it on the Dis, but I think you have to see this in person. We were walking out as they were being served. They flashed the lights and made a big deal out of serving them. Do people actually finish these? The tables we saw ordering them were families, but I’m just wondering how much people actually eat of them.

It's not a relaxing place, but it's a lot of fun.

B&C for dinner with a lauch over to the BW for strolling sounds great and we do this on every trip. Sometimes B&C can get very crowded and you need to wait, but the kids can be busy at the arcade next to it. The standard fare is quite good, burgers are very tasty and they have a couple of good sandwich offerings too. Shakes here are incredible and the sundaes are huge and delish. Take-out is not the same as you do not get the ambiance and the fun serving dishes.

We are IceCream Palor fans... We saw Beaches and Cream on the Travel Channel a while ago and read about it here. There are old fashion sweet shops and IceCream palors all over NJ and we love discovering new ones. I was down there in July 05 staying at the Beach Club and saw how tiny it was. My daughter was not with us on our quick trip since she was going to be down on the college program a few weeks later (Long story but I had air and hotel that had to be used by 7/31 and she started CP mid August).

Well we were back down in Disney for her birthday and that was when we went to Beaches and Cream to eat. Again, the place is tiny. The food was good. The tables are TINY and the place REALLY crowded. We waited 2 hours to be seated and most of the other patrons were obnoxious, rude, and demanding... all angry about their wait and wanted royal treatment by the time they were seated.... everyone had waited but apparently some think they are owed something. It made our dinner very unpleasant to listen to the constant complaining and yelling. We sampled one dessert - we were full from dinner.

If you want an awesome Sundae - go to POFQ :)

You won't get to see the kitchen sink there - but you will get a really good sundae made to order, quicker and have plenty of seating without a wait.

Late note: I just have to say that in my last few trips, I have encountered some really shocking, obnoxious behavior. I won't list it, and its a small percentage of people, but these vacation bully's & *****s are intolerable to be around. The Cast Members at WDW are exceptional in my opinion, working for $6.50 an hour and putting up with a nasty group of people that think they deserve Royal Treatment. These people get nastier and louder and yes, someone comes along and tries to calm them and quiet the scene... by comping something, but all it does in the end is encourage them to do it again... Sheesh... like OMG, your in Florida, if you don't want you children bitten by mosquitos then put some Deet on them. Don't throw a tantrum in the middle of Disney so you can get free ice cream on your Magical Vacation of a Lifetime where you are the King of the world and everyone else is scum.

*off my soapbox* -

Please expect to wait if you want to go to Beaches and Cream and be considerate of everyone else that waited too - they are there to enjoy not cringe as the Cast Members are berated for being busy in one of the most popular places to eat. (OP wanted to *relax*)

We found the food unexceptional (sundaes are better at Ghiradellis), the wait intolerable at 3:00 in the afternoon, the service poor (we waited thirty minutes for a table, ten waiting for tables to be bussed, then another ten before anyone took our order), value bad, and the restuarant dirty. I don't get why people go out of there way for this restaurant - different strokes.

However, you won't want to take the boat to the Boardwalk, its an easy walk.

We were fortunate enough to hit BC when it was not busy, mid November early lunch time. Had our burgers, which we thought were really good, inside and our sundaes/banana split, outside. No complaints at all. The burgers were huge and I really liked the onion rings and lime rickey. Unfortunately, after the burgers, we were so full that my DD and I were unable to finish a shared banana split. :guilty:
Hope you have a grand time.
