I'm currently stuck in LA an extra 2 days after a wonderful DL holiday thanks to some health issues in my party, and I'd like to use the extra day to do something enjoyable tomorrow. I'm thinking Farmers Market then a walk along a fun boardwalk/beach. So I'm wondering which you all recommend, Venice or Manhattan? Or another perhaps? All suggestions & tips welcome! Thanks!

If you are going to Farmers Market, you might try the Santa Monica Pier and Beach. Take Fairfax south to the 10, go west until you hit the pier and park there. To go to LAX, take the 10 east to the 405 to get to the airport.

If you'd like to be at a beach closer to LAX, you might try Dockweiler, though there are no shops there - it's just beach and some fire pits for bonfires.

I like Manhattan Beach, but that is farther south. You would be leaving Farmers Market, going past LAX, driving some surface streets to get to Manhattan, and then backtracking to LAX.

If you do go to Manhattan, there are shops you can visit, and then go to the beach. It's a nice community. If you go to Venice eat at Salt Air Restaurant. My daughter works there. :)

Thanks for the great reply Mary Jo! We ended up doing the Farmers Market & the Grove which was fantastic. We then drove to Venice, rented bikes and rode the length of the beach before driving to Santa Monica to finish our day. It ended up being a wonderful day with lots of great pictures and memories! :)
