Hubby wants to do deep sea fishing in the Gulf on way back to Atlanta. He mentioned Destin as an option, but I put up a little fuss when I realized that it was a 7 hour drive from Orlando ..lol Now I'm trying to find alternatives. I'm sure there are a lot of beaches on the Gulf side that have deep sea fishing other than Destin. Any suggestions on Beaches that we could stop at on our drive back to Atlanta (don't want to go south). I wouldn't mind a 3 or 4 hour drive from Orlando, just not 7 hours.
Thanks

If you're taking I-75 back up to Atlanta, Destin is only about 3 1/2 hours west on I-10 from 75. So it's 7 hours out of your way, there and back. Not sure if that's what you mean. It's also about 7 hours from Orlando. I'm from the Destin area and been deep sea fishing several times there, and it's a good place for it. There are also some great beaches. Don't really know of any closer places, although you might want to check out the Panama City area.

Yea, that's what I mean. I don't want to drive 7 hours to Destin from Orlando. So, I'm trying to find other areas along the Gulf Coast that would be a little closer than a 7 hour drive from Orlando. We've been to Destin a few times already, so it would be nice to switch it up this time.

Would Tampa or Clearwater work?

Yes, Tampa would work. However, Hubby has decided that he now wants to go towards Daytona Beach or Jacksonville. So, now I'm looking at a Florida map to see what beaches are long the stretch between Daytona and Jacksonville.
The map I have is not very good. I've tried to find a map on line of that area that's very detailed, but no luck so far. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

in order from north to south: Ponte Vedra, Vilano Beach, St. Augustine, Anastasia Island, Palm Coast, Ormond Beach with Ponte Vedra being just adjacent to Jacksonville Beach & Ormond neighbors to Daytona. Just north of Jacksonville is also Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach.

St. Augustine is a wonderful area. Beaches are great, fishing is great, I just can't think of one thing that isn't good about St. Augustine. :sunny:

My fav is Ponte Vedra.....so far. We did go to Anastasia Island this weekend. They do have a wonderful state park there. I have not yet been to JAX Beach, but I hear that it is great as well. We just moved here a few months ago, so still trying to get a feel for the beaches here (we are from orginially Myrtle Beach, SC). Hopefully someone can better help you.

Destin is GORGEOUS!!! And yes, it is a drive from Orlando, but I want to say that it is only 6 hours to Atlanta. If you have never been to Destin, you should go. By far one of the prettiest beaches around. Good luck!
