I am taking my dd2 and ds5 July 7 - 9 to stay at okw. I am thinking about taking them to Beaches and Cream for "The Kitchen sink" dessert. I can not wait to see their faces when it comes to the table. :hyper: Does anyone know if you can customize it. My kids still have selective tastes and even though I know there is no way we will finish it all. I don't want them to get their first bite of mint choc chip with pineapple and refuse to eat any more. Thanks for the help.

I have never had this, but from what I have read on other sites, they will use the ice cream of your choice (from their list of flavors, of course). I know we would have to substitute the coffee ice cream for another option.

I've never asked about that but have been curious. The coffee flavored ice cream (or whatever it is) isn't our favorite and usually we just end up eating around that spot to bypass it.

Your kids should get a kick out of the sink when it's brought to your table, esp. if they flicker the lights and announce its presence.

According to the travel channel's Great Hotels episode of the Beach Club, Samantha said you could ask them to leave off certain things you don't like which for us will be the coffee ice cream and the pineapple sauce. Hope that helps!

From my KS research here, it appears that it would take 5 hearty appetites to finish one of these. Of course there is no rules that says you have to finish it, and the look on the faces of the kids may be reward enough. Enjoy, and don't get an ice cream headache.:earsboy:

NikkiBell-

Yes, the other food here is great . . . especially the burgers and onion rings! Also, the sundaes are super yummy! I can't wait for another No Way Jose!

I've had the burger and fries. DH had a cheeseburger and onion rings and said both were great. The chili dog looked good, too!

First of all eat dessert first , so you have room for all of the ice cream..

We ask them to leave off toppings, put some on the side and change out ice cream flavors. never an issue.. I will look for a picture. but the 4 of us eat the whole thing..

Yes, you absolutely can customize the Kitchen Sink. We have asked them to leave off certain toppings both times that we ordered it, and they were happy to do it. What I don't know is whether you can get extra of any toppings. For example, extra brownies or extra hot fudge or extra candy. Since the Kitchen Sink isn't big enough as it is, it would be nice it they could make it even bigger. ;)

Anyone have the other food here? I hear it is great.

My son says they have the best burgers in WDW :yay: . I like the ice cream soda's! :drinking1

The Kitchen Sink is $21.99.

There were 3 adults in our group when we "tried" it... the only thing we asked was that the pineapple sauce be on the side. If (big IF) we ever decided to try it again (with more people) I'd definately ask them to leave off some toppings (especially the whipped topping - a whole can is WAY too much). Actually, I might tell them to just leave it off completely...

The only other thing was it seemed like every bite we took had a taste of peanut butter, so we might have them withhold that topping as well. I like peanut butter, but it was somewhat overpowering in the one that we had.

Good luck if you decide to try it!

BTW, the burgers there are wonderful! Some of the best we've had on property. Actually, DP and I split a burger and they even cut it in half, brought it out on 2 plates with fries on each... we were very appreciative (and reflected it in the tip!)... :goodvibes

We just ate at Beaches N Cream yesterday for the very first time and we thought the food was delicous. The burger was so good, I couldn't stop eating it (I think the way they cook the bun has a little to do with how good it tastes).
They must have served about 10 "The Kitches Sink's" during our meal. Everyone seemed to really enjoy them. One family of 8 even ordered 2, and finished, 2 of them. They flickered the lights and made the annoucements about the dessert before each one they served. I want to bring my mother back for her birthday and surprise her with this (she didn't go with us on this trip so she has no idea what's in store for her).
Overall, our meal was excellent, with the one or two exceptions. One being the coffee ice cream that my son ordered. It is way to strong and he only ate the whipped cream and cherry. The second being our waitress. Yes, it was busy in there, but she was very rude at times and a little intimidating. I was pretty surprised with her attitude.
Oh, one more thing that I have to mention is the Frozen Sunshine.....this dessert, kind of like a shake, is soooooo good. I almost overlooked it, and am glad I didn't.

Deb,
Thanks so much for the recent review! I have to ask though: what is in a frozen sunshine? I hadn't even heard of that one! And good to know that so many are ordering the Kitchen Sink. DH wants to order one to surprise his parents but I was kind of embarassed. Now I'm not!

Hi.....The frozen sunshine was really, really good. It had orange sherbert, possibly vanilla icecream, seltzer, whipped cream and candied oranges on top. I know the seltzer sounds kind of weird but it was the best drink "dessert" ever. :thumbsup2
Another tip that I have is if it is very busy when you go, which is most of the time, you can sit at the counter. This will reduce your wait time!!!! But only works if your party is small, ours was three. Hope you have a great time, we can't wait to go back again and surprise my mother. :rotfl:

Hi, Another FROZEN SUNSHINE lover here!! We usually stay at BCV and at the end of a LONG day in the parks my DS and I stand in the LONG line at Beaches and Cream (to GO side) and I ALWAYS get a frozen sunshine! :sunny: ENJOY!! Joan
