Beach & Yacht club availability

When I bought BWV and BCV were sold out. Forced to buy elsewhere not by choice. I would love nothing more to purchase at every resort but that isn't always possible. I have kids and limited times that I can take them there without missing school. I'm NO Troll..just a very annoyed DVC member who unfortunately can never get a stay at BCV or BWV since I have the 7 month rule to abide by and when I can travel there. Thanks for everyone's input. I get the process....just annoyed yet another year!!

Disneynutz gave good advice! Look at selling what you have and re-purchasing where you want to own. We were not happy with our first contract resort....we decided to lose a little money and sell. We never wanted to be "disappointed" in a trip to Disney World. No regrets and we love where we now own.

We own at AKV and We have been able to stay at BWV, BLT (twice), and BCV without a problem at the 7 month window. We were able to wait list a boardwalk studio boardwalk view at BWV and received it at spring break.

I know it is possible !!

Good Luck! :)

There are options.

I need to take Girl Scouts to HH next summer. I'm renting points from David and then will have him rent my points out - there will be a price premium, but I'm certain to get the reservation I want.

Ok you couldn't of tried to purchase BWV or BCV in 1994 they hadn't been built yet :confused3

In 1994, BWV and BCV weren't even being sold yet. OKW, yes. But BCV wasn't sold until 2002 because we bought points there that closed May 2002 pre-opening. It was only OKW in 1994.

You could sell your existing contract and buy at BWV or BCV. We started with small contracts at more than one resort and banked and borrowed to increase the 11 month points staying at different resorts every second or third year. Instead of going out to eat at home and celebrating special days, we started a DVC fund and bought more contracts as the fund allowed. After a few years we owned at five resorts.

I apologize it was 2004 not 1994...when I went back to read the year I joined in a previous post. Going down in October this year I will inquire about selling and re-buying.

If you are travelling in October, this is the issue you are having with trying to secure a reservation at BCV or BWV. Those resorts are very popular during the F&W festival. Did you waitlist for either resort? I have read that people have often had luck with waitlists, even during October/November. It is worth a shot if you want to stay there that badly :)

I just became a DVC member fall of 2012, and since then I've been able to book BWV BV twice 2 months out--end of January in a 1 bedroom and 3rd week of June in a studio. I just about had my pick of resorts for the January trip, but the upcoming June reservation was luck and required a little extra searching for a few days. Hope you have better luck, or are able to purchase pts at one of the Epcot resorts for next time.

You want to do this resale. You can look at the link at the top of the page and figure out what your current contract would sell for (about a 10% commission on top of that) and what a BCV or BWV contract would cost - it won't be an even trade. Talking to Disney, they might buy back your points and sell you other points at full price, but the delta between what they will buy for and what they will sell for will not make any sense.

In 2004 you could have bought either BWV or BCV resale - and had you pressed your guide, they would have put you on a waiting list for points (they might have had BWV points available). But that involves finding the resale market or us so that someone could have clued you in.

You will have a hard time booking BCV or BWV during October/November. Just like right now, I tried to switch from BCV to BLT for December. Right. That didn't happen. Actually I can't switch anywhere for the first week of December. It happens. I am frustrated as well, but it's the way it is. Sorry :(

Sorry your so frustrated. Thankfully I have been lucky & either through good timing or waitlist faeries (only needed this once!) I have gotten the resorts I want, the room type I want, when I want them. And I own at OKW.

It is very much possible to book BCV and BWV at 7 months at certain times of the year.

However October due to Food and Wine is not one of those times. I would wait-list. There has been an increase in speculative rentals, and if those members don't rent these rooms, they will very likely cancel them.

I own at BLT and AKV, And twice I have been able to book BWV for stays during Food and Wine Festival. In 2009, I got three nights in a standard view studio over Halloween weekend. And I only booked it at about 3 months out. This year I was able to book a pool/ garden view one bedroom at exactly 7 months out for Halloween on the weekend thereafter. We've also stayed at BWV over spring break in a one bedroom standard view, booked at 7 months out, and we've stayed at BCV for several nights in August, again booked at 7 months out. So, OP, it can be done - and I've only been a member for 4 years.

Have to agree - as a runner who now convinces her parents to let her rent or arrange their travel plans around the rundisney schedule, I can vouch that Oct is hard. Food & Wine, Tower of Terror 10 miler, Wine & Dine Half plus Columbus Day make Oct crazy. However, no issue when booking in 11 month window for both BWV in Oct or AKL in Jan, but had to do studio with garden, not standard view. I know it can be frustrating, wait lists and pixie dust!

Yeah i am booked at SSR for that week and waitlisted at BWV. There is nothing available anywhere the first week of december. The past 2 decembers i was at BCV and OKW so i will use my Home of SSR

Yeah I have two studios booked right now at BCV that first weekend. But I think I'm going to change it to the weekend after. More availability and I might have a better chance of getting where I want to be. Fingers crossed ;)

Daddio's site has a page that listes recommendations on how early you should book different rooms/resorts.

http://www.dvcrequest.com/how_soon_should_i_reserve.htm

With the popularity of F&W, you're always going to have a hard time getting an EPCOT resort for that time period. Best thing is to reserve your home resort and then try and book right at 7 months, failing that get on the waiting list right at 7 months.

Actually, it's quite fair. There's a reason why there's an 11 month booking window and why people are adviced to buy where they want to stay.

What's unfair (IMO) are owners buying the cheapest DVC resorts (SSR, OKW, HHI, VB) and then complaining when they don't get into the more expensive/popular resorts (BWV/BCV during F&W, BLT/VWL during Christmas) at 7 months.

Completely agree. We paid more because we want to stay at specific resorts. Another way of looking at it is that it is not fair for those who paid more to have the same availability as everyone else. If it was not set up this way everyone would buy at VB.

I want to emphasize what crisi posted earlier, there is no point talking to Disney about this. They don't usually buy back points. The few times it has been reported here, they were offering to buy back BCV points (and only BCV points) for $55 per point. At that time, members could easily get $88-$90 per point for a BCV contract on the resale market. Even with the sales commission (10% - 15%) BCV owners selling at that time could receive $75-$81 per point by selling through a resale broker rather than selling back to Disney.

If you want to sell your current contract and buy at BCV or BWV, check out the listings on the resale brokers' websites to get an idea of the current market prices. You will be looking at the asking prices, the actual selling price could be lower since there is often some negotiation between the buyer and seller. If you click on the "DVC Resale Listings" link at the top of this page it will bring up the listings page for The Timeshare Store. There are other brokers as well.

I don't think it's unfair that people complain. Many people should complain,we know that a lot of guides gave inaccurate information regarding seven month availability. While it might be a little tiring for those of us to read the same complaints over and over again, there is nothing unfair in complaining.

Though I agree that any change that would put non home resort owners on the same footing with owners would be unfair, we paid a premium for our points, and pay a premium in dues.
