Two totally different resorts. BCV and BWV are DVC resorts and are booked with points within the DVC system. The resorts you mentioned are in a totally different system.

I would advise you spend some time reading on here how DVC works so you have a full understanding on how the system works. Very good information here on DIS so you came to the correct place. Good luck and ask questions.

I think this gets asked about once a week! There are two different pools of rooms, those available for points bookings and those only available for cash bookings. Those cash rooms are rooms owned by DVD and also represent members using their points to trade out of the DVC resorts for cruises, Disney collection, etc. they rent those rooms for cash to recoup the costs of those trades.

Thanks for your input bakenatj. I have been a member since 1994. I know how the DVC system works. I know that BCV and the BWV are different resorts and Neither of them ever have any availability even with the 7 month rule since its not my "home" resort!

Doesn't change the fact that its unfair to DVC members!!! There are other bigger less popular resorts they could provide for cash paying customers!!! Very frustrated DVC member!!!

You need to buy where you love to stay and use the 11 month booking benefit.

You will notice from my signature that we own at 5 resorts for just that reason. It doesn't make sense to own if you can't stay where you want.

Yes if I was made of $$$ I would buy at every resort thanks!

feel free to vent.

but the other side of the deal is that when DVC members trade out for cruises and such, DVC has to turn those traded points into cash to pay off the cruise division. it's a lot easier to turn those traded pts into cash by using them to rent desirable rooms that people actually are willing to pay cash prices to rent. that's the only way trading for cruises or for hotels like the poly is an option for DVC members. it's not "unfair" at all - whether DVC is using pts it owns itself (from ROFRs or foreclosures) or pts that it is managing for the benefit of DVC members (such as those traded out of the system), those "cash" rooms were actually booked on someone's points.

many of us try to advise potential DVC members that it's worth it to buy where you want to stay (or at least, where you don't mind staying). it solves this kind of headache completely.

Actually, it's quite fair. Here's how it works:

When Disney Vacation Development builds a new resort, they sell shares of that resort (timeshare). But not all of it. They retain a very small percentage of room inventory (< 10%), and use those for things like swapping out a villa for refurbishment. If they've got no need for that, they send the villa over to CRO to have it rented out. That's what you're seeing on the website. It's not our room inventory, Disney owns it, Disney pays the maintenance on it, they've got a right to rent it out or do whatever they want with it.

If a resort is in the process of being sold and Disney still owns a large percentage of inventory, or if they'd gotten points back through ROFR, they'll also put those villas out for cash reservations. Which they have an absolute right to do, as they own the points.

As a PP said, you'll also see villas in CRO inventory when they're being used to pay for a member's exchange to DCL, the Disney Collection, etc.

As timeshare owners, we only have access to the pool of room inventory that we own. It's not that Disney's cheating us out of 'our' villas, because these are theirs, not ours.

If you think that booking at 7 months is tough now, just think of the additional competition as new resorts and owners are added.

Actually, it's quite fair. There's a reason why there's an 11 month booking window and why people are adviced to buy where they want to stay.

What's unfair (IMO) are owners buying the cheapest DVC resorts (SSR, OKW, HHI, VB) and then complaining when they don't get into the more expensive/popular resorts (BWV/BCV during F&W, BLT/VWL during Christmas) at 7 months.

Also, it's NOT true that they're always not available at 7 months (I got mine at 6 months), but they could be out at 7 months during the popular seasons.

You must be trying at a high demand time for the EP resorts. This past April (spring break, but not the week before or after Easter) we switched to AKV, but I could have booked a 2BR at BCV, BWV or BLT at seven months. I just switched a four night Thanksgiving week reservation to BWV, although I did have to change my dates from Sun-Thurs to Sat-Wed in order to get all four nights (worked out for the best - we will then have a few days at the beach). I called right at 9am at the 7 month window, and I think if I had called later that day I could have switched just three nights. BCV and BLT 2BRs were not available for four consecutive nights right before Thanksgiving like they were for my April trip.

So...it is possible, but there are definitely times of the year when it is very difficult. Short stays are easier than long stays, and it also helps if you are willing to have a split stay and grab available nights for part of your trip and wait list the rest. It is so true that people should buy where they do not mind staying. That is why we decided that if we add on, it will be at a second resort. We love our home resort, but for 30+ years of vacations we'd like to know we can alternate between two different resorts. The hard part is deciding where to add on, which is why we are trying out some new resorts lately.

He was merely trying to point out the sound advice of owning where you like to stay. Too many people buy less expensive contracts with the idea that they can stay anywhere at anytime. Priority booking window is an issue.

Please don't jump to conclusions and judge someone because they have more points than you. If they are "made of money" they most likely worked hard for it. Perhaps they choose to drive a clunker car in order to enjoy nice vacations. Like everything else in life, it comes down to personal choice.:)

We've had no trouble getting into either BCV or BWV at 7 months. We had a studio for 5 nights at BCV this past January and have a 2 bedroom standard at BWV for 8 nights this coming July. Both were booked right at the 7 month window. That said I realize that neither January or July are 'prime' DVC travel months so it was a little easier.

We would like to be able to travel to the Epcot resorts for F&G, F&W or holidays, etc. So we just agreed to terms on a resale contract at BCV and I'm waiting for the contract so we can begin the ROFR process.

I own at BWV. If I trade to a Disney Cruise, DVC takes a room at BWV and gives it to CRO to make the money to pay the Cruiseline. The room has to come from where the trading members points are.

I've been a member since 1999 and never had a problem getting the room I wanted at BWV at 11 months and rarely had problems at 7 months for another resort, I've done all the WDW DVC resorts except SSR.

I'm declaring a Troll Alert!

Four posts total in the OP's count, all on this thread, all snarky toward the answers given, plus asking a rookie question/statement despite being a 19 year DVC vet? :sad2: Troll Alert :darth:

Although, I will answer one quetion:

What's the point of being dvc member!??!!!
10% off WDW restaurants and a cool looking blue card! :cool1: :lmao:

Plus, if you have mountains on your card, you are "old school" :smooth: :rotfl:

When I bought BWV and BCV were sold out. Forced to buy elsewhere not by choice. I would love nothing more to purchase at every resort but that isn't always possible. I have kids and limited times that I can take them there without missing school. I'm NO Troll..just a very annoyed DVC member who unfortunately can never get a stay at BCV or BWV since I have the 7 month rule to abide by and when I can travel there. Thanks for everyone's input. I get the process....just annoyed yet another year!!

You could sell your existing contract and buy at BWV or BCV. We started with small contracts at more than one resort and banked and borrowed to increase the 11 month points staying at different resorts every second or third year. Instead of going out to eat at home and celebrating special days, we started a DVC fund and bought more contracts as the fund allowed. After a few years we owned at five resorts.

The day will come when the children have moved out :yay: (it really is nice) and your vacation time will become more flexible; at that point you should be able to get into the resort you wish.

We were just at BCV 2 weeks ago and got in at 7 mo. Keep trying at 8 am online right at 7 mo and go for the wait list. You just may get it.
