Does ART take you to any beaches? Or what would be the best option for getting to the beach I was considering renting a car but want to see about other options where we don't have to navigate

The ART shuttle does not go to the beaches directly. On weekends, they work with MetroLink and you can take the ART shuttle from Disneyland to the ARTIC and then purchase a $10 Metrolink weekend pass. Then the Metrolink will take you to San Clemente Beach.

A taxi to a local beach starts at about $60 each way. Many of our guests rent a car for a day as that tends to be the most economical way to go. Do note that you will normally have to pay for parking (metered or at a parking area). Local buses is far cheaper but will take you about 1 hour or more to get to the beach.

I rented a car from the Alamo on Katella (there's also one in Downtown Disney) and drove to Huntington Beach. It was an easy drive & cost about $30. Parked right next to Duke's (restaurant) on the beach. Parking not too pricey & super-convenient. A fun day out!

We also rented a car & drove to San Diego another day (about 1.5 hours) and enjoyed that drive too.

I also see now on the metrolink site you can go to Santa Monica the weekend pass thing would be great and I think my kids would LOVE riding the Metro but our beach day is in the middle of the week and best I can tell San Clemente is only on the weekends :(

We usually rent from Alamo at DTD and drive to Huntington or Newport. This trip spending Memorial Day at the beach and got rental car for $38.

If you are interested in seeing Laguna, Newport, and Huntington beaches - I highly recommend the OC Beach Tour Bus. It's a really neat tour bus that drops people off for 3 hours in each of the beaches for a total of 9 hours. It was so convenient because none of us really wanted to drive in California. Our driver was Tom and he was really nice and had a lot of interesting facts about the different areas. They will pick you up at our hotel, too.

It's the first option at the top of the list: https://anaheimtourcompany.com/beach-tours/

This is incorrect.

Metrolink runs to San Clemente every day. Only San Clemente Pier Metrolink Station is weekends only. Both San Clemente Metrolink Stations are right on the beach.

You can still take Metrolink to the beach on a weekday, but it will be more expensive than the $10 Weekend Day Pass.

If you are looking into using public transit to go to the beach, you could also take LA Metro Bus 460 from Disneyland to Knotts Berry Farm then transfer to OCTA Bus 29 to Huntington Beach. Once in Huntington Beach, you can explore that beach or take OCTA Bus 1 down Pacific Coast Highway to more beaches.
