beach toys for the kids

I know that I have read that many of you send your kids surprise packages which include the beach toys before or on the cruise. However, I don't plan to do that. I was wondering, though, if I should try to buy them beach toys now, before we head out. I have been to Toys R Us and Kay B Toys and neither of them have beach toys. (Of course, we are in fall not summer. They look at me like I am crazy for asking!) Toys R Us suggested the pool store. I did go there, and they do have rafts. However, they didn't have shovels, pails, etc. for the beach and sand. I read in my Passporter Guide that Castaway Cay does provide the kids with beach toys on a first come, first serve basis. Were they readily available? Or will they go pretty quickly? My husband acts like it will be no trouble to find the beach toys for sale at Port Canaveral shops when we arrive there. Will we pay top money for them? I am just wondering what I should do. Buy or wait for Disney's at Castaway Cay? I know that my kids will want the sand toys, though.

I had the same question. My husband thinks I'm nuts for wanting to take a pail and stuff but I don't want my son to be sitting there with nothing to do either. Any help on the availability of them?

TLBH70-looks like you are on the Magic with us on Saturday-if you don't find any-I have enough and will gladly share with your kids. Or if you want me to pick up something for you, let me know-we have the beach shops here in town with all that stuff.

I thought about bringing sand toys but they will take up too much room in our already overstuffed suitcases!!

Thanks for the offer, Ginny. However, we are going on the 4 night Wonder. We will drive from Charlotte on Saturday so that we can stay the night at the Radisson at the Port. We will board on Sunday.
We do have a Dollar Tree here so I will check there.

If you will be in Port Canaveral the night before or early before departure, just go to Ron Jons in Cocoa Beach, they're open 24 hrs and have a large selection of beach toys and other beach accessories cheap. They are right on the main drag in Cocoa.
Also the Walgreens and Rite-aid in Cocoa also have beach toys I noticed last week.
