Beach or Yacht Club??

We are in the early planning stages for an Oct. 08' Disney stay. It will be just myself and my lovely bride of 26 years. The Food and Wine Fest is the biggest draw for us so an Epcot area resort is a given. We have it narrowed down to either the Beach Club or the Yacht Club. Any pro's or con's to either one from some of you who have been to both? Is there any significant difference between the two besides the decor?

I vote for Yacht Club. I have only "resort hopped" to both, and I just like the more adult feeling at Yacht Club. It has kind of a quiet casual elegance, if that makes any sense.

Check out pics at allears.net or wdwinfo.com, and maybe you can see which decor appeals to you. I believe that the rooms have the same layout, size, etc.

I have to agree my boyfriend and I have stayed at the Boardwalk and Beach Club this past year. The yacht club has more of an adult atmosphere to it.

I think the biggest difference between the the yacht club is that all rooms have full balconies the beach club does not.

F&W festival is a blast!!! you are going to have a great time! enjoy

Thanks for the feedback. We'll be doing alot of research on both before we decide. And yes.... the F&W fest IS a blast. We did it for the first time last Oct. and can't wait to get back.

We loved the Yacht Club! It was nice and quiet. Housekeeping was very good. Our room was immaculate the entire time we were there. Room service is excellent and we love the other dining choices you have within walking distance!

Another plus for DH and I was the quiet pool area. We were often the only ones there. There is also a nice, quiet hot tub there. DH and I enjoyed going down there or just sitting on our balcony and watching all the activity (not to mention Illuminations!).

We love both the Yacht and Beach Club...BUT, I have to agree and say the Yacht Club has more of an "adult" feel to it. If my husband and myself ever go it alone, that's one I would definitely consider.

I don't think you can go wrong with either - both are great resorts!

DH and I (and my parents) just returned from a quick stay at the YC last weekend. It was our first time at the YC, but DH and I had stayed at the BC last August. Being that we don't have children yet, and based on others' opinions here that I value, I was fully expecting to prefer the YC.

While we enjoyed our stay (no issues to speak of and the resort CM's were always helpful and smiling), I think when we go back to that area, we're more likely to select the BC. The YC did have a more "refined" lobby, which we enjoyed, but I found that I missed some of the things over at the BC that I walked over there for (namely the BC Marketplace, Beaches & Cream, etc.) While walking between these resorts is not a big deal, I think the BC is just a bit more convenient for our needs. We also enjoyed being that much closer to Epcot, and when at the YC, found we entered the resorts at BC and walked to the YC that way, to get out of the heat!

I can also say that my room at the BC was immaculate last year (with the king bed and full balcony I requested, too! ), while our room at the YC, while clean, definitely looked a bit worn (collected dirt around the baseboards, furniture that was once white looking a bit yellow, stains on the carpet, etc.). My parents had connecting rooms to ours, and theirs was in similar shape.

Either way, enjoy your trip!

We just came back from Yacht Club this past August. If I were to pick again between the two it would be Beach Club. No kids in our group either. I didn't think a food court would be that important to us, since in previous trips I didn't think we use them that often.Pros at beach club would the quick service location. There is also covered walkway at the BC that leads to the bus area, makes a difference when it is pouring rain. Although Yacht Club's bus area is more closer to the lobby, but with no covered walkway. Beach Club is practically right near Epcot, and depending where you are at the YC its a much longer walk. The boat dock is closer to YC though. The shared buses usualy go to YC first and than BC, coming back from the parks YC is dropped off first.

We just returned from the Yacht Club today.... LOVED IT!!! It's a beautiful resort with a deluxe/sophisticated feel. We booked a standard room and put on our ressie that we were celebtating our 25th anniversay, and would like a king bed. Well at check in we found out that we had been upgraded to a lagoon view/club level room... with a king bed!!! It was wonderful! But I mainly chose the YC because of the full balconies, which are great... the upgrade was just icing on the cake!

Either resort hotel will be appropriate, although the BC is closer to EPCOT's International Gateway.

Though some have suggested the YC has a more "adult" feel to it, any resort can assume that description based on the majority of guests staying there at a particular time (large families, small families, adults, etc.).

Stayed at Beach Club last time and loved it. Picked the Yacht Club for next trip in Oct.

We don't have kids.... and last trip at BC was quite, but 3 rooms down was a circus with kids running between rooms and slaming doors all night.

I told my wife....we lucked out, not being next door to them, but picked the YC this time because we like a quite room, and hope the YC is a bit less hetic than the BC (who's lobby was always a blur of lots of people and cute little kids) but after a day of that in the parks...I want to get away from the crowds

I looked at both resorts when we were there in July, and the BC appealed to me more. It just looked friendlier and more comfortable. You could tell the YC was more suited for adults and older kids.

We recently returned from the YC...and we loved it, we had our DD15 mths with us...for some reason there are more kids over at BC...not sure how it evolved actually..lol...anyway, balconies seem to be tough to get at times at BC..we had a wonderful one
CM's are great....the CL was a real treat this trip...we were close to the boat dock...and SAB closer to the YC side seems less busy, never had issues getting a chair or two.
I dont think you can go wrong with either....but for your circumstance...I would go with the YC!! Have a great trip!

While BC is closer to IG, it is really only a matter of a few hundred yards (at most) and the walk from the YC lobby to the IG is still less than 10 minutes.

I do agree that whether YC is more "adult" changes depending upon the guests staying there at any time and, more importantly, the guests staying in the rooms in the immediate vicinity of where you get a room.

That being said, the character breakfast at Cape May every morning does tend to draw lots of families so that the BC lobby is pretty much guaranteed to be louder in the mornings.

We were at YC in August. Our kids are 15, 12 and 9. I really enjoyed the YC and plan on returning for our March trip. I did think the BC had a nicer, more beach vacation type lobby, and the food court was much closer, but the YC has the same amenities (pool) plus a couple of important plusses. As some people have mentioned, one is always getting a big balcony. Those standing balconies would not be a hit with my DH. He loves to sit on the balcony. Also, YC gets picked up and dropped off first for busses. It is such a short walk from the lobby I never even thought about the covered walkway until I read it in one of these posts!
