We are traveling to DL the 21-26. Our first Halloween time trip but we have elected to skip the parties so we only have 3 day PH tickets and are going to make our park days Monday Wednesday and Thursday. Sun and Fridays are travel days. We where thinking of hitting the beach on Tuesday, are we crazy? Has anyone been is it too cold in Oct? Or what beaches do you all prefer? or what other fairly inexpensive thing should be do. Not really interested in doing another theme park or driving too far like San Diego. any suggestions would help.

BTW we are staying at the Hojo i guess as one one the last entertainment book rates:confused3

It's possible. Don't count on swimming but maybe some wading. There can be some warm weather as the Santa Ana winds bring heat to the LA basin. You might want to have a plan B incase it's cool or wet.

We have gone in November several years and have always gone swimming. Usually it's plenty warm enough but even if it's cold we still swim since we only get to the beach every few years. Mostly it has depended on the wind as to if it's warm enough.
Our favorite beach is Crystal Cove state park. There are restrooms! We also like the big rocks with some crabs, plants, and things so there is stuff to do even if it's cold. You can buy sand toys for a couple dollars at any grocery store.

Ditto on what skiingfast said. It really depends on your cold water tolerance. I'm way too much of a baby to swim in the ocean beyond September.

Also with staying at the HoJo you don't want to go in their Pirates Cove area if it's cold. It's a very splashy sort of area where you are wet but not in the water. If it's cold outside you get frozen because you are wet. They do have another pool that's better because you are actually in the water.

see what a difference??? Laura&Fam is from Utah where they get snow which means it gets seriously cold and therefore they could probably tolerate the water in Oct...on the otherhand, DisneytheKid is from AZ and although they get hotter than I get here in CA, we both have HOT summers and for people like us, anything below 75 is cold:rotfl:....and we both are in agreement with the water issue...for me though I wont go in water unless its at least 90+º outside...so it totally 100% depends on your tolerance ...

I have been in the middle of December and it was in the 90's and i have been in Oct when its been nice and on another Oct trip it was pouring rain. So hopefully you will get the beautiful weather :goodvibes
