Beach hotel question

Does anyone know of a really nice beach hotel within 2 hours of Disney World? We want to spend a few days at the beach in July. We really want something newer and modern with a great pool. I have been to the Ron Jon place in Cocoa beach and I was nice, but I didn't like the fact that pool is a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. I would like a ocean front room and be close to the pool. It can be either side and doesn't have to have a kitchen, but can if that it the best. I do not like run down hotels or nice hotels that are showing their age.
Any ideas?

Have you considered Vero Beach. the Disney Vacation Club hotel at Vero Beach is really nice (and still Disney so you know the standard that they are trying to uphold). The Beach is right behind the hotel and some of the rooms look right out to the ocean. We love it over there and it is a nice ride, it is just under 2 hours and the directions are easy... Just something to think about.

Not sure how much you are looking to spend, but I used to live in Clearwater, here are some options for that side (these would be just under 2 hours as well):

In the other directions (heading out to St Pete) there is the Don Cesar on St Pete Beach http://www.doncesar.com/

Also on Sand Key (which is a portion of CLearwater Beach) There is the Radission Suties. There is also a Radission Resort on Clearwater beach as well as Marriott Suites on Sand Key.

We loved http://www.oceanwalk.com/ in Daytona Beach. They have 2 indoor pools and a huge outdoor pool right on the beach with a lazy river, a big slide, two hot tubs and a great little separate kids pool with it's own slides and water guns. The website only shows condos, but if you call they sometimes have less expensive studios available. I have a lot of info saved from other disers here on good restaurants in the area too if you're interested. Good luck!
