Beach Gear Rentals

We will be doing about 12 days at Aulani next December and I was thinking it might be nice to rent some beach gear. I know I could probably just buy stuff at Costco but I hate the idea of one time use and then dispose of it. Anyone have any good experiences and or companies to share?

What beach gear exactly are you wanting? Aulani rents snorkel sets and stand up paddle boards. They have plenty of chairs to use for free. You can also check out boogie boards and life jackets for free.

Yes we availed ourselves of the length of stay snorkel set last time we were there. It's not the nicest stuff but ok for most. What I was looking for are some nice beach chairs, sunshade, surfboards/boogie boards maybe coolers and nice snorkel gear. Thought I heard something about a company that offered delivery on these boards once. We generally spend most of our mornings on the beaches around Oahu so was thinking it might be nice to have some gear we can take with us.

Uncertain of companies that do rentals but a friend rented their car from Turo and the owner added on chairs, cooler, boogie boards, snorkeling gear. They were very pleased with that set up. But I could see wanting an outfitter with high quality gear.

Yes I am very tempted by Turo but the thought that the owner might cancel last minute scares the heck out of me. I know its rare but time has become so precious I need certainty.

For length of stay snorkel gear,,do you have to turn in each day or can you hold on till end of week? do they include fins?

Yes they include fins and we were able to keep the ocean specific gear overnight. They use different equipment in the rainbow reef.

For something like snorkel gear, instead of renting or buying then never using them again yourself, maybe ask your friends if they already have a set that you can borrow? If the flippers take up too much luggage space, just the snorkel and goggle itself should be ok if you're not planning on swimming out too far. I went on a Hawaii trip last year and asked different groups of friends if anyone had a GoPro I could borrow because I knew I likely wouldn't use it after the trip and had multiple eager offers for me to borrow theirs as they also had never used theirs again after their own Hawaii trips lol.
