Beach excursion for cozumel or wing it

I would like to do a beach day in cozumel. Or I would like a catamaran without snorkling. Has anyone did either of these with out going through Disney.

Just grab a cab to this goreous free beach (many charge for chairs/umbrellas/hammocks).
We adored this beach, and wish we had spent all day there (Carlos & Charlies was entertaining, but the beach is better!)
Great food, service, $5 wristband gets you use of kayaks, floats, snorkel gear (w/ deposit). Tramp and rock wall in water. Henna, massages, jet skis, shops.
But the breathtaking, relaxing beach was the best!
I'm sure there are other wonderful excursions, but for a beach day, you cannot beat the value of this one!

Most of the time you can do a beach day on your own for way less than 1/2 of what DCL charges for nearly the same experience. You just have to be "brave" and venture out on your own.

We went to Playa San Francisco. It is another free beach. We rented chairs and floats. They had a pool and restroom facilities and food/ beverage services and various watercraft to rent. It sounds similar to Paradise beach mentioned above - and it sounds like paradise has a few more things going for it.
