Beach drives

Hello all!

We will be out the end of April and have 2 days to explore off DL property. We know we want to eat at Huntington Beach (probably Duke's) for dinner one day.

Thinking about leaving one morning and driving interstate to Malibu (Could we get to Santa Barbara and back without being rushed?) and then taking the shore drive back down to Santa Monica and Venice Beach.

2nd day - head down to San Diego with an early lunch in Old Town and drive the coast back over the day. Stop and see the seals at La Jolla, enjoy the scenery and end with dinner in Huntington.

Are these doable? I want to have a relaxed pace. FYI - we are not ones to go swim or sit on the beach for hours. We will stop and enjoy a location for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 (depending on what we are watching) and then move on.

Both of these are doable if you're okay with spending most of the day driving and are aware of traffic, especially if its a weekday. Santa Barbara is a couple hours drive without traffic, as is San Diego by the scenic route. Double those times during rush hour. But if, for example, you leave Anaheim around 9:30, eat lunch around 11:30 and leave SD by 2:00 at latest with only a couple quick stops you'll be okay and avoid the worst of the traffic.

I love Duke's in Huntington Beach! Good choice.

Driving PCH takes a while but the views are great. If that's what you're there for, you'll love it. If you're trying to keep a schedule, you'll be frustrated.
