Hi, all! My family of four (2 adults 2 boys) came back from another fabulous stay at the Wilderness Lodge about a month ago. Naturally, I am already thinking about our next trip (two years from now). We've been at the Polynesian twice, Wilderness Lodge twice, and a quick one-night stay at the All Stars Music. Each resort was fabulous. They each had their own fun and unique style and I would recommend all of them. My oldest son, 9, wants to stay near Epcot next trip. I am allowing him to help choose our next resort. He wants the Beach Club mostly because of the pool. I admit, it looks incredible. So for all you Beach Club lovers, can you tell me something about the resort? This is a big step for us branching out and moving away from the Magic Kingdom area! It will mean all new food choices, and new views, etc. If you love it, why? If you didn't care for it, I'll listen to you as well. I don't want to make a quick decision solely based on a fabulous pool!

Thanks in advance!

Lisa

Great location - best in all of WDW;
Best pool at WDW;
Rooms are a little small as compared to the Poly;
The facility itself, just seemed like any other nice hotel we've stayed at, at other places. Really nothing special. Bus waits seemed to be a little long as compared to the Poly;
We've only stayed there once, and there is nothing wrong with it at all, but we probably won't stay there again.

I love the Beach Club and I hate its pool. Of all the pools in the deluxe and mod resorts, it is the one I like the least. But I'm sure children enjoy it a lot.

You can walk to Epcot's World Showcase, which is a big plus if (like me) you love the World Showcase, but I'd like it if it were far from Epcot, too.

Beach Club is pretty and the rooms are bright. The lobby isn't big or a WOW like some hotels (and I think the new furnishings don't compare to the old :( ) but it is light and airy. There are 3 hotels at WDW where I really feel relaxed and the BC is one of them.

I don't know if any of this helps. Good luck making a decision!!!

These are my thoughts exactly... It was very nice, but we had just moved over for the 6 nights of our trip from the WL and for the large difference in price it just wasn't worth it to us. I would have been happier at the WL the whole time!!! But, as the previous poster said it does have a fabulous pool and the location can't be beat.:) Just my opinion...:rolleyes1

Your kids will love the pool at Stormalong Bay. It is definitely the best pool on property. You can also go to Beaches n' Cream at the YC which should not be missed. They have a really nice snack bar-cafe in the gift shop. We didn't eat there, but it seemed very popular. They serve some simple breakfast and lunch items- breakfast sandwich, a couple different quiches, a few sandwiches. Also have and amazing gelato bar. Someone else had a post about where they could find gelato and another DISer posted their photos. It is presented beautifully and looked delicious. They also offer the refillable mugs there and a wide assortment of beverages to choose from. I love the boat ride from the Epcot resorts to either WS or MGM. You can also just walk over to the WS entrance. You have lots of restaurant choices between the five resorts in the Epcot area, and you can also head into WS for other options. If your kids are into sports, ESPN zone is on the end of the Boardwalk nearest the BC. The only negatives I tend to read is that the transportation can be very iffy here. I think the bus service is a bit sporadic and you have a bit of a hike to get to the monorail in Epcot. If you are bringing your own transportation, then this shouldn't be an issue as the Epcot resorts are centrally located and only about 15 minutes away from anything on property.

Beaches and Cream is at the Beach Club, right by the pool. There are usually long waits - even at "off" times, in my experience - and the food (while it is yummy) isn't worth that kind of wait, IMO. :upsidedow

The gelato is very, very yummy. :) :cloud9:

I wanted to add that if you are driving, it is a fine location. Of course, if you are driving everywhere is a fine location...but the Epcot resorts are easiest to find when navigating your way around the World. I don't know anything about busses - don't like 'em, don't ride 'em. :)

If you get a room at the Beach Club that looks out over the Boardwalk, you've got one of the prettiest views in all of WDW, IMO. However, there aren't a lot of rooms with full balconies where a couple people could be out there and sit down. Many of the rooms have those itty-bitty ones where you can kind of peek your head out the door. Lack of balconies is a major drawback.

We stayed there for a week in June 2005 and I can't say enough good things about the resort. The pool is awesome, my girls were 9 when we went and they loved the pool. They didn't want to leave the pool everytime we went. The waterslide is so much fun and the sand bottom felt so good on you feet. We ate at Beaches & Cream twice and never had to wait more than 30 minutes, we just swam while we waited. the walk to Epcot is so convenient. We ate at the Yachtsman and Cape May for the character breakfast. I just got a quote for our August 2008 trip and guess where we're staying--The Beach Club!

Beach Club is one of our favorite resorts! The closeness to Epcot is great and the short walk is most enjoyable. Cape May Cafe is great (both breakfast and dinner), Beaches and Cream is a blast and the pool is the best in all of WDW. I don't think you will be disappointed.

This is our favourite location in all of WDW. Of course, at this point, we are adults - so it may be different for you and your son.
The Epcot resorts area is the most convenient in all of the World. We love walking into the International Gateway at Epcot. We love the dining choices in this combined area. We love the choice to either take a boat or walk to MGM and we love Storm Along Bay.
The themeing is wonderful. Art the Greeter is one of a kind. The restaurant choices are incredible. The rooms are great.
This is my dream vacation!!!!!
Good Luck in your decision
