Hi everyone,
My DHB and I love going to WDW and here we are planning a trip again :)
This time we would like to stay a few nights at the boardwalkarea, but we don't know where. We love to have large lunches at the sitdown restaurants and to grab some snacks at the hotel at night. That's why we love a good foodcourt at the hotel, where we can refill our mugs as well.
Which resort is the most convenient for us?
Thank you :wave2:

None of these Epcot resorts have a food court. The Boardwalk has no restaurant inside while the Beach and Yacht clubs do. There are quite a variety of restaurants on the boardwalk and in the hotels. Go on to allearsnet.com and in the dining section click on the hotels in the Epcot area (Boardwalk, Beach/Yacht clubs, Swan/Dolphin) to see the menus and hours of the various restaurants.
If you do decide to stay in this area may I suggest Spoodles for breakfast. It is only a few doors away from the Boardwalk Inn and within an easy walk of all the Epcot resorts. They have a great breakfast and it is a nice quiet place to start the day. We always look forward to our mornings at Spoodles. My DS and I love their breakfast pizza/flat bread, but all their food is very, very good.

All of the Epcot resorts are near each other and there are nice restaurants at each. Since there are quick things to eat at the end of the day at the Boardwalk, I would probably opt for there, unless you really love pool activities, in which case, I would recommend the Yacht or Beach Clubs.

Thanks for the quick replies!
So these hotels don't have a foodcourt... Are there no possibilities to buy a refillable mug as well? My DHB and I are very fond of these, maybe that's because we're from Europe, where you never get free refills :teeth:

Beach Club recently remodeled their store and put in a small food station, it is called Beach Club Marketplace. They have a refillable mug station and some sandwiches, clam chowder soup and some salads. They also have gelato (italian ice cream). I would highly reccomend Beach Club and this new food station was really a great addition.

Hi fromeurope,

Tubbie's at the Dolphin is open 24 hours and has a good selection and is not a long walk at all. When we stayed at the BWI we got our mugs at the Bakery - great pastries there also. Have a great trip!!

Bob.

The Beach Club Marketplace really sounds like a good option, and so does Tubbie's at the Dolphin. You are really great with your advices, thanks again.
Now I only have to get used to the designs of the Beach Club rooms... When I see the pictures of all those different fabrics in one room it really makes me dizzy :)

Actually, the rooms look a lot more mellow in person. I was also turned off by the color scheme of BC when I had looked at the pictures, but when we got there, it wasn't too bad. If you want really muted tone, YC is the place--all soft greys and blues.

That's good news!
I really don't like the looks of the Epcot-resort rooms when I see the pictures. They look really uncoordinated, but maybe that is different in real life. Luckily I have my sunglasses with me anyway :)
At Disneyland Resort Paris, where I have been many times, they have the Newport Bay Hotel and the rooms overthere are really beautiful. That's why I don't understand the pictures I have seen of the Boardwalkhotels.

If there are only 2 of you, the Beach Club Villas might be a good option. The studio room is about the same size as a regular Beach Club room but seems much bigger. I beleive the price is pretty comparable to. The room will have 1 queen size bed and a sleeper sofa. I beleive this is why the room seems bigger because the sofa doesn't take up as much room as the 2nd bed. The room will aso have a small fridge, microwave, coffee pot and a toaster. The decor is also a little different than the regular rooms.

Thanks Terry, I have been thinking about that as well.
Do the villas have a balcony or someplace where you can sit outside?
Actually I am waiting for an APdiscount for the time we're planning to go.
So I think the discount will make the decision where we will stay :)
Not the wallpaper :teeth:

Do the villas have a balcony or someplace where you can sit outside?

Yes they do. Our balcony was huge since we had a corner room. Here are two pictures of the balcony view we had with our Beach Club Villas Studio Room:

Oh that really looks amazing, I wish I could take an airplane rightaway :)
Now I have to convince DHB about staying at the villas. He says : when you're on vacation, you don't need a kitchen... For him one of the best things of vacation is to eat all meals in restaurants. Here in the Netherlands people eat almost all of their meals at home. Restaurants are for special ocassions or for business meetings. The only place where you can get breakfast, when you're not at home, is McDonalds or a hotel :teeth:
But since I am the one who makes the reservations I am seriously thinking about the Beach Club Villas.

The studios don't really have much of a kitchen anyway, just basically a wet bar with a small fridge, microwave, toaster and coffee pot. A lot of people that stay even in 1 and 2 bedrooms that have full kitchens don't use the kitchen for much more than holding water and other drinks in the fridge. There are some really good pictures here of the inside of the rooms. The last 6 pictures are of the studio room. http://www.members.aol.com/suedvc/bcv.html As you can tell from the pictures above the outside is absolutely beautiful. And the store with the food area mentioned above is just as close to some of the villa rooms as it is to some of the regular rooms.

Awesome pictures and rooms Terry, thank you very much.
If I wasn't living at the other side of the world I would be a DVCmember for a long time now....
So I am hoping there will be a nice APrate for the studio soon and than I will be the first to call :)
