we are taking our first wdw trip ever (just us two adults),and are booked at the beach club. in your expert opinion, is the beach or yacht better for adults
should we switch? we are not stuffy, we are fun loving, but help! there are so many choices to make, which is best? no matter what, can't wait!  :Pinkbounc :hourglass

We have stayed at both, yacht club only once. Though connected, the beach club is more to our liking, seems closer to SAB and the water slide, Beaches and cream is our favorite food court. And its the closest to EPCOT. Beach to us seems less stuffy, more kids, I think but alot friendlier. We're plain folks and the yacht seemed alittle too la-dee-dah!

thanks for the input! that was my initial feeling, but just wanted to check. also, is there a place to get coffee, sweet rolls, etc in the morning from the BC without too much of a hike? thanks!

Anothr vote for YC, it also seemed cleaner when we stayed there.

Biggest difference that I noticed is in the mornings because of the character breakfast, the beach club lobby is way busier. I don't think the yc is too la-tee-dah. and we are just plain folks also.

My Dh and I stayed at the BC in Oct. for our anniversary and we loved it. We walked thru the YC and found it less relaxing and kind of stuffy. The BC was more our style. The BC has coffee, danish, cereal, etc set up in a small bar area off the lobby in the morning. Enjoy!

We stayed in the YC in early December. In walking between the two, I thought the YC had a more adult feel to it. Perhaps as another poster mentioned, it was due to the fact that there is no character dining at the YC. The lobby seemed a little more quiet and they too have coffee, danish and light breakfast items available in the lobby lounge. I think it's called the Ale & Compass and in the evening, they offer cocktails in a relaxed, open setting. If you do decide on the BC, just be aware that not all rooms offer a full balcony. The YC also has some rooms without a balcony, but not as many. Either place you go, if that's important to you, have it noted on your reservation.

You certainly can't go wrong with either resort. YC is our favorite resort at WDW because of the pool and the proximity to Epcot and the Boardwalk. Of course, BC shares those same attributes. However, I do agree with other posters that the YC is a bit quieter and more subdued. That is something we really like, but to each his own.

We've stayed at both. The only thing we found different about each was the lobbies. YC was darker wood, a little more formal. Didn't bother us, we don't spend time in the lobby anyhow. The rooms in each were bright. Actually liked the YC rooms a little more, seemed brighter in the color scheme. Also liked the standard view at YC vs. BC. Some BC std views overlook a large roof, not very appealing. Not the case at YC and most YC rooms have the full balconies. And as far as everything else, all facilities are shared no matter where your room is located. We pick YC to be guaranteed a full balcony and better stnd view. Just our preference. Hope this helps!

I love the location of these two resorts. I initially stayed at the BC for the exact reasons you gave. The next time I wanted to stay there they were full but the YC was available. I stayed there and haven't been back to the BC since. It's not that I don't like the BC (I'd still go there and be happy) but I prefer the YC and by the way, my 16 year old and my 4 year old like it there too! It's more relaxing to me and after a packed day in the park (we usually go in July) I really like the feeling of less crazy and more subdued. You'll see kids in the lobby but it just doesn't seem as crowded.

Having stayed at both, we like the Yacht Club a lot better! Better views, bigger balconys, better decor, quieter. You can't go wrong at the YC!

When we stayed at the BC last May they were doing major repairs to the YC facade with tarps and scafolding obstructing views and leaving a less than beautiful site. Is the building still under remodeling?

We stayed at the YC and loved it. It is very close to the main pool also. It never seemed crowded. We did run into rude people in the elevator. You'd be waiting and group would walk up and just hop on in front of you. We walked through the BC a few times for various reasons. It was very pretty, but it did also seem to be busier. Have fun!

We ended up at YC last May when we couldn't get a room at the AP rate at BC for our travel dates. Based on photos I had seen of both resorts, I preferred the color scheme and decor at BC and thought the YC looked too stuffy and dressy for us. However once we got to the YC we thought it was great and we felt very comfortable there. We loved the full balcony -- our room faced the Boardwalk so the view was lovely and we could see the Epcot fireworks!

I can't compare YC with BC since I've never stayed at BC. My only experience with the BC lobby was when we went for the character breakfast at Cape May and it was crowded and noisy in the lobby with all the folks waiting to get in for breakfast but I can't imagine it's like that all the time. By comparison with that, YC is certainly quieter and more subdued!

We enjoyed the breakfast at Cape May because of the characters but we actually thought the quality of the food at breakfast was better at the Yacht Club Galley. The buffet at the YCGalley is much smaller, but we thought the food was better.

We're going back in May and we opted for YC over BC again, primarily because we really enjoyed having a full balcony and it seemed our chances of getting one are much better at YC.

As mentioned in a previous post there was a lot of work going on at the YC last year. I also would like to know if that work has been completed. Could anyone who has been there recently report in? We didn't hear any construction noise from our room, but we didn't take any pictures in front of the main entrance due to the scaffolding.

Out of the two I prefer the BC. I love the theaming of the hotel and find it very relaxing. I too felt the YC theaming was a little too stuffy. I didn't find the BC lobby to be noisy or overly busy (we stayed there in August.) Saying that we loved to walk over to the YC as the shop there is different and we also enjoyed the restaurants in the YC as well.

The first week of February, a good 1/4 of the YC was still scaffolded and covered, standing in front of the building it was the part to the left - sorry, don't know my compass points.

YC vets, what does a typical standard view look like? Since it would seem that everything looking toward the BW would be a waterview room I am curious. Mostly parking lot?

YC is high on my wishlist (BC is too, but YC is more my style). I love the lobby. During our stay at the Dolphin, I think we spent more time at B&C, playing on the beach, etc. than we did at our own hotel ...

Jennifer, if you're going with a standard view at the YC, definitely request something in the back of the building (water side). They do have what's considered garden view there. We had the misfortune of overlooking the front of the resort and had views of the parking lot and the employee break area. If you want to check out this link ~ http://www.disneyzone.net/ycresort.htm, it actually shows you the complete breakdown of all the floors and room numbers. Just click on the picture link about halfway down the page and then use the resizing tool to make it big enough to read. I'm pretty sure they had the same information about the Beach Club.

Tammi, thanks for the link! That is nifty.

You've answered so many of my assorted questions this week - thanks for that too! I have finally convinced DH to take a long weekend in October for my birthday so I am busy info gathering. Too many wonderful properties to choose from!

My husband and I went to the YC last Nov. We loved it. Loved the balcony and we were upgraded for free to water view. It was wonderful.
We thought it was quieter at YC than BC. We went over there a few times. We also saw less kids/ families at YC. Seemed to be more adults /couples walking around.
We had wonderful service and were treated so well. We could not have asked for more.
