Looking at waitlisting deluxe studios at both resorts for the same dates. I understand I might not get either, but which resort has better odds of coming through?
BWV is larger, so usually has better likelihood of WL coming through. But with the refurb going on presumably this fall into spring, it’s unpredictable.
Refurb for both at the same time, apparently. No announcement about exactly when the BCV refurb will start back up. And you never know exactly how long they will take.
Both have already renovated much of their main public areas, so it shouldn’t be terrible unless they’re renovating the rooms immediately above yours. Beach Club has a few public areas that haven’t been done yet, including Stormalong Bay (confirmed for 2025) and a couple dining areas, BW public areas are entirely done AFAIK.
I would agree that BWV Pool/Garden view will be the easiest thing to get, followed by BCV (which only has the one view, meh view), then BWV boardwalk view and standard view are the least likely, by a lot.
It depends on your tolerance. Which takes into account your schedule - they aren't working on rooms in the middle of the night, but if you have little kids who nap and end up close to the work - yeah, it could be. Or maybe your kids and you sleep through anything. If you are the type who doesn't want to see construction workers in the hallway, yes, its disruptive. If you are the type who doesn't really notice, no it isn't. If the smell of new carpet and paint is annoying, it could be.
OTOH, if you'd like general information about pros and cons of various room locations, ask on the thread I linked - there are many people there who can help!
In 25 years of ownership, we've had a room request met at BWV once. We almost always end up in the "middle" which is the part no one wants. Its fine.
Low floors make it easy to avoid the elevators - especially if you don' t have a stroller. Higher floors have better views. Near the lobby is closer to the elevator. The end of the hall is quieter - but a long walk if you don't do stairs. Hence the popular requests tend to be "high floor" or "low floor" "near the elevators" or "across from the bus stop (at the end of the hall)"
We just got back Friday night from BWV. We heard a chipping hammer one afternoon for a couple of hours but it wasn’t bad. They were doing a lot of exterior paint which had a strong odor but that was the extent of the disruptions for us. We had a great stay!
