Beach Club Villas Renovations, some good, some disappointing

I think the new "BVC" renovations look like something out of "Lost in Space", lots of fake silver color and plastic materials. Not at all beachy to me. It used to be one of our top three favorite resorts, now it has moved to the bottom of the list. Oh well, maybe someday DVC will renovate it back to a beach club villa look. Until then, I will use my points elsewhere. I am sure there are many others though who will stay at BVC for the location. Lucky for me, if I am looking for Epcot location, I have loads of points I can use at the Swan/Dolphin.

Well if I wanted to stay at the Four Seasons I would.....judging from the pix i see on line......I for one don't like the generic theme....we bought BW in 2000....
i loved the beach theme there and at Beach Club....I loved the WLV theme.....when we stayed there......I guess the higher ups know what's best...

Just back from a 6 night stay @ BCV. Agree that the theme has been watered down. New & clean however and that's what most important to us. Still the same walking distance to Epcot.

did anyone have a picture of the bathroom floor. I just love that tile and trying to find where I can purchase for my bathroom floor.

I apologize-this isn't the greatest quality-

I loved the bathroom floor because it was sparkly and reminded me of white sand on the beach.

Respectfully, I disagree with the idea that the refurb at BCV lacks theming. How were the previous rooms themed better? I have sat in the villas and looked at photos....what about the original rooms screams "beach"? Nothing! Not the carpet, the drapery, the cabinets, the furniture...I don't get it! There were some wall hangings/prints that were beach themed but they replaced them with beach themed wall hangings. The new rooms feel beachy themed to me with the new color palette and subtle decor. I love it! It's fresh and new and has a subtle beach theme. The bathroom tiles are far more superior to what was in the bathrooms before. I will miss the ceiling fans but it certainly won't ruin my vacation time there. I'm very happy with this much needed refurb.

I completely agree with this. My husband and I stayed at BCV years ago, we loved the hotel and location and pool but hated the room decor, neither of us felt that it was even remotely reminiscent of the beach at all, it all looked very cheap and tacky to us. Now that we really need more points than our AKV contract provides we went ahead and purchased a BCV resale contract, and are excited to stay in the new rooms. We will miss the fan but overall like the look of the new rooms. My only regret is that we won't be going until 2018.

That's funny. We own at BCV and AKV too. Love both resorts.

The decor just does not have the importance to me that it seems to have to so many others. We were in a renovated 2 bedroom for nearly a week, and we all enjoyed it. We bought BCV primarily for SAB and location. I still like BCV a lot, even though I hate the accommodation they made to sleep 5 in the studio.

We were on DCL at a DVC program when the VGF announcement came out that its studio will sleep 5. The audience applauded loudly....they did not do it for me, but they made many members very happy. No one can please everyone, that's a fact.

For us we want the Disney difference, the theming on property that the surrounding off property resorts or hotels don't have. In the past DVC carried the resort theme into the rooms, now they look like any hotel room anywhere. Maybe Disney doesn't want us staying in our rooms so they force us into the parks to get our theming fix.
