Does anyone know anything about this - dates, extent of the work, etc? I made a couple changes to our BCV res recently, and when the new confirmation came today, it included a line that the "main pool will be down for refurb during your stay". Our dates are May 25-June 1.

Yeah, I'm not too happy to hear this, since we're taking a redeye, and my whole first day plan involves lounging around the pool to rest up while we wait to check in. What really bothers me, is I switched our first couple nights from AKV, and the CM didn't say anything about it when I made the change. I wouldn't have switched if I'd known, since we could have lounged around Kidani pool instead of the tiny BCV one. I'm planning to call MS Monday to see what's up.

They had the big slide closed for part of our stay last May. They didn't announce the closure until right before our trip, so it was too late to switch our reservations at that point. We just enjoyed the other parts of the pool, and didn't let it affect our trip. We ended up loving the DVC quiet pool - we thought it was great.

Just talked to member services. The only thing they have listed is pool slide refurb in Jan and feb.

That stinks - we're there May 26 - June 6. Its hard to imagine that is a convenient time to take the main pool out. Its pre-summer to a point, but come on! We go to BCV every May and its never been down before. My kids will be heartbroken not to have "toddler beach" as they call it. We staying there mostly for SWW, I'm tempted to look at BWV now - we don't usually stay there (kids never have). May be a good time to see if anything is open!

It has been my experience that they never usually close the entire pool all at one time, in the past they have just closed one section at a time while the others remain open.
I do not know whether that is scheduled to begin in May or not. I do agree that it is a lousy time to schedule maintenance on such an important asset to the resort, the winter months would seem to be a much more logical choice. So I'm hoping it is not true.
But nothing Disney does (good or bad) surprises me any more.

I hope it's completed by the time of my trip, SAB is the main reason i am staying at BC

We are booked to stay there from 5/5-5/14, we switched from BLT to BCV mainly because the kids (including my big kid DH) wanted to swim at SAB, we are planning on having a lot more pool time too this trip. They will be so heartbroken if we get there and they find out they can't swim or go down the big slide (their favorite pool slide in all of WDW). Hopefully this is just a rumor and if they do plan on refurbing, they will do it all during their Jan/Feb refurb.

MS did say that all rehab schedules are subject to change at any time. She did say that we would receive a letter from them if our reservation at BCV (Msy31-June 3) would be affected.

You might want to ask over at the Beach Club resort discussion. There is a Beach Club CM on there who might know, or would know who to ask.
