Beach Club - Pool Question

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there were sun umbrellas and/or cabanas to rent at the SAB? We're headed there in August and all three of us burn rather easily. I'd like to spend a lot of time at the pool but can't imagine doing so without some significant shade!

There are no cabanas or umbrellas to rent. However there are some tables with umbrellas in the area close to Beaches n Cream that are 1st come, 1st serve. There are also some tables with umbrellas in the area near Hurricane Hannah's (some are on the pool side, others are on the restaurant side (if you aren't staying at the resort and don't have pool access).

There are also areas of the pool that are naturally more shady than others due to trees. I know that there are definitely some shady areas near the part of the pool where the Jib Slide ends, and some others close to the shallow pool with the sand bar play area.

Now my question is... WHY in the WORLD would they not have umbrellas or cabanas?! This is going to drastically change my plans as we simply can not lie in the sun all day and bake.

If you look at the picture in this post, you will see that the trees naturally provide quite a bit of shade. Especially near the Yachtsman. It's been quite a few years, but the last time we were at SAB we had no trouble staying in the shade pretty much all day.

Every inch of space has chairs, tables, etc. There really isn't any space for cabanas except maybe at the beach area, but you can't swim there, so you wouldn't be able to watch your kids swim.

I too burn very easily. I find it very frustrating at SAB. Plus people don't seem to realize they can use locker rooms to store their belongings and they use the lounge chairs for their belongings. Then you walk around for ever looking for a chair in the shade. Plus people when asked to use a chair adjacent to them say oh this is for my child. Uh okay well your child is in the pool how about I sit here and when they come out if they ever do I'll give them the chair. But then your now stuck sitting next to someone who is disgruntled with you. Supposedly people aren't supposed to do this but they do. I go there every year for past 13 years and same thing every time.

There are shady areas, and as mentioned tables with umbrellas. A good sunscreen, wide brimmed hats, and maybe a UV shirt would be of help too. I noticed a few people swimming with UV rash guard shirts on.

Honestly I was at RPH (Universal) last week and loved loved loved the pool set up. Not only did they offer free sunscreen and magazines, food and drink orders delivered to your chairs, but the staff brought huge sun umbrellas directly to your chairs...

I never thought, in a million years, that Universal (or rather Loews) would beat out Disney but they clearly do a great job of it by the pool.

I know I could apply layer after layer of sunscreen... wear a big hat... but I would just love it if Disney would provide umbrellas. It seems like a little thing but it goes a very long way!

Check out page 93 of the Beach Club/Yacht Club Photo Thread in the Resort Photos.....halfway down the page someone has pics of SAB posted and you can see some of the tables with umbrellas and shady areas around the sandbar play area. There may be more pics on that thread also, I just looked at the last couple of pages.
