I've never been to WDW in January. We were just there this past Aug. and visited the Beach Club. We fell in love with the pool there (who wouldn't?) and we are looking for a place to stay for 1 night before our Disney cruise in Jan. and are thinking about staying at the Beach Club, primarily just to swim.

Is it warm enough though in mid-January to swim there (and enjoy it)? I don't want to spend so much for that hotel and not be able to enjoy swimming because it's too cold!

I have been going back and forth with this same exact problem. My kids want to stay at the Beach Club SOOO BAD but we always go in January and this past Jan it was WAAYY to cold to swim. It never got higher then 50 the whole time we were there. So I am torn, do we put out the extra money or just stay at SOG. The pools are heated that isn't really the issue as far as I'm concerned it is the air when you get out and are walking back to your room.

Hi,

We stayed at the Beach Club in January, 2003 and the pool was AWESOME!! The kids just loved the sandy bottom and waterslide and we spent 2-3 hours there each afternoon. Definitely too cold to go in during the morning, though.

I think that because it's heated, you don't really notice the temps outside and the pool was fine. We were wearing pants and t-shirts during the day, primarily, with our fleeces at night, to give you an indication of the weather during our trip. Kids did not shiver, or complain of the pool temp. at all and to this day still talk about how great it was.

Hope this helps! :rotfl:

Two factors:

The weather is so variable in January. There can be frost or it can be warm enough for shorts the entire week.

Your swimmer's tolerance. We tacked a night or two at the BC onto a Polynesian stay some years ago when our children were probably in the 9-14 yo range. They had SAB totally to themselves one day. The guards were all bundled up and our crazies lasted maybe a half hour. :teeth:
