Looking for everyones opinion on which resort to stay. Trips dates are oct 8-11 2004. I want wilderness lodge wife wants beach club. Please help!

Thanks,
Larry

I have enjoyed both resorts a few times and both are GREAT!! but I liked Wilderness Lodge so much, I purchased a DVC timeshare from VWL. I like being in the middle of everything yet off to the side.

The Beach Club has the great pool and a great location being a 5 minute walk from Epcot but to be honest, the few times I stayed there I had a hard time with Bus Service to all the other parks and that has been every stay there. Alot of the times I would just walk through Epcot and take the monorail to the TTC where I know I can catch a bus not just hope I can.

The Wilderness Lodge has some of the best design (theme) of any of the properties IMHO. Very relaxed, peaceful, both dining rooms are wonderful and not to be missed and the grounds at night makes it a perfect place to end a day of theme parks.

I would have to vote as you... Wilderness Lodge!

GOOD LUCK!!

I have not had the pleasure of staying at the Beach Club but after experiencing the Lodge doubt that I ever will. We just feel so much at home at WL that we have no desire to venture away. may you too find your niche.

They are both great resorts. Here are a few pros and cons:

Wilderness Lodge Cons:
1. Boat ride to the Magic Kingdom.
2. Great atmosphere, one of Disney's best.
3. Beautiful pool and beach area.
4. Next door to Fort Wilderness where you can walk from the resort through pine trees.
5. Artist Point, a great restaurant.

Wilderness Lodge Cons:
1. Small guestrooms.
2. Will need to bus to all theme parks except the Magic Kingdom.

Beach Club Pros:
1. Stormalong Bay - Disney's best pool.
2. Walk to Epcot and boat to Disney-MGM Studios.
3. Access to many restaurants at the Boardwalk, the Yacht and Beach Club, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and all of Epcot's restaurants.
4. Larger guestrooms.

Beach Club Cons:
1. Very few rooms with full balconies - most are stand-up only.
2. Great atmophere but not as wonderful as Wilderness Lodge.

All that said, I think you will enjoy both resorts. Just decide which one fits your personality best and what area of Disney you would like to spend the most time and go with it. You won't be disappointed either way.

Hope this helps and have a great time at Disney.

We couldn't decide either, so we split our stay. :) I don't think I'd split in your case, though, I'd just go with WL.

We've stayed at both and as in the other posts, they both have pros and cons. Figure out what you want to do most on your vacation and decide which resort. If you have kids who like the pool, choose BCV. If you are going just the two of you and want some night life, choose BCV too. If you like being close to MK, choose WL. See, I can't choose either! Urrrgghhh!

im doing WL sept 18 tjru 23 and cant wait
Im using a postcard rate and got a courtyard view for 130 a night
I cant wait its looks amazing
I did beach club 2 years ago and the pool alone makes it worth it

good luck

We loved the WL, but after experiencing the closeness of Epcot and MGM to the BWI we have decided to go with BC (another Epcot resort). Both are great. Just decide where most of your time will be spent for a more relaxing stay.::MinnieMo

We stayed at the Beach Club June 2002. We just returned Wednesday from our first trip to the Wilderness Lodge and fell in love with the place. We will definitely be going back to the Wilderness Lodge.

Have stay in both...but I love the Wilderness Lodge, so I believe I would stay there...but I just noticed your stay will be during F&W, I would want to stay in one of the EPCOT resorts for this trip...that being said you may not be able to book a room at this late date a the BC. (because of the F&W)

Good Luck....

I'll play the devil's advocate and say Beach Club. I visited the WL on our last trip to eat at Whispering Canyon and to get a peek at the place for a future stay there. I was disappointed in the feel of the lodge, too woodsy for me. If I'm paying for a deluxe, I want that deluxe feeling.

I love staying in the Epcot area and being so close to Epcot, Boardwalk and MGM. We walked more often than we took the boat! I actually found the boat service from WL to MK to be a little lacking. I'd do one of the monorail resorts first, and all the Epcot area hotels are great--BC, BWI and Swan/Dolphin. I may stay at WL someday when my sons want bunkbeds, and they seem to have better rates than the other deluxes--but I think there's a reason for that. If money is no object, I'd go for BC or even BWI. S/D has some great rates and lots of rooms.

I would also say the Beach Club. I love its location as I love MGM and Epcot and it was so easy to walk to both of these resorts. I did like the theaming of the WL but prefered the BC as I loved its elegant and calming theme. Plus SAB is by far the best resort pool.

I have stayed at both, and I love them both.
WL has the most fantastic lobby I have ever seen, and I love that woodsy feeling and smell. HOWEVER ...... The location of the BC is the best location on property. It is the very closest resort to Epcot. If you are the type of people to spend lots of time at Epcot, like I am, it is easier to take a break and walk back
to your resort for a while. It is also much easier to walk back to your resort after a late night at Epcot.

I think this answer depends more on location than anything else.

You can't go wrong, either way.

We've stayed at both and prefer the BC to WL. Reasons...Stormalong Bay is the absolute best pool on property. Far beats WL pool. The BC is more convenient to Epcot and MGM. There is so much to do at the Epcot resort area - shopping, dining galore and just the fun and activities of the boardwalk area. You can walk to World Showcase, which is one of our favorite things to do at Disney. We love the whole feel of the area.

We weren't thrilled with WL. Although I think it's absolutely beautiful, we thought the CM's were lacking as far as Disney service, the transporation was slow and the rooms were small and dark. Didn't like the pool. Did like the walking trail to Fort Wilderness - very nice. Love the geyser.

If you plan to spend most of your time at Epcot or MGM, I'd say definitely go with BC. Or, you could pick based on the theme you would prefer.
