Which one?

We have two kids, 6 months and 3 years old. We are looking to hang out by the pool during the day and going in August. We were interested because the pool looks awesome. We currently have a reservation at the boardwalk but looking to switch just for the pool.

How are the rooms in comparison to the boardwalk?

It depends on what you are looking for in a resort. It depends on your needs. Do you have any children in the group? How old are they? The pool at the Beach Club is sometimes considered inappropriate for some younger children bc it is so large and spread out. The lazy river is fairly swift with a depth of up to 8 feet. You are not giving enough information about your group for anyone to give you any real advise.

We have never stayed at the Beach Club villas but have stayed many times at the Beach Club. We also are DVC members at BW. I would probably say with your ages, you wouldn’t get the most out of stormalong bay. You would be spending most of your time at the kid pool on the ship by the beach. I believe their are some other kid oriented areas, but it is very spread out. At BW, they have a little splash pad and the pool is not nearly as massive. It would be easier to watch your kids at the BW.

Room wise they are pretty much the same but with different decor. Pool wise they are quite different. I will agree that the BC pool is spread out, with the ages of your kids I don’t think they will be going all over the place. BC has a nice sandy area that my kids enjoyed. Just digging in the sand and doing a bit of splashing about in that area. We walked over to the kids pool slide ( which is outside the main pool area) but my kids preferred the sandy area, so we just hung out there.

I was going to say Beach Club because it feels more laid back than the Boardwalk, but with kids that age, I'd go Boardwalk. The pool at Beach Club would terrify me with kids that age.

How many adults will be actively engaged with the kids at the pool? If it is one adult per child at the pool, Beach Club would be great. It has great areas for small kids. If it's going to be mainly one adult trying to manage two little ones, I'd stick with Boardwalk.

Four adults to two children.

I would be concerned about the lack of shade at SAB when an infant is with you. BWI/BWV isn't much better but the pool doesn't seem to attract as many seat-savers as SAB does.

If you switch to BCV, there is a very large, sand-bottomed kids pool there and a small slide behind the flying jib slide. Finding loungers can be an issue at that pool however. As long as the children are supervised, either pool could work, but the BWI pool is less chaotic.

We love BWV!

Each year, I think I am going to book at the BCV or some where else and we keep coming back. We love the vibe, the pool and the location.

We can find a shady spot pretty easily at BWV main pool and really easy at the quiet pool.

With two little ones and four adults, SAB is manageable. The sand is really fun for little ones. We had a hard time time finding a shady spot at SAB unless we went early.

If you stay over on the YC side of Stormalong Bay, you should be fine with your children. It's a sandy play area that is pretty shallow and there is zero entry on that side. But the lazy river is really deep (like 8 feet) and has a pretty swift current. The other issue you have with two bedroom villas at BCV and BWV is that at BWV they are all lockoffs. None are dedicated at BWV. Meaning a studio that connects to a one bedroom. So the second bedroom will have a door to the outside corridor, plus a kitchenette. And only one queen bed, a double sleeper sofa and a bunk sized murphy bed. BCV will have both lockoffs and dedicated. The lockoff at BCV will be similar to the BWV lockoff. The dedicated will have two queen beds in the second bed, no door to the outer corridor and no kitchenette.

My daughter loved BWV when she was 4. Fun kiddie pool with a playground next to it so she would just bounce between the two. Cute elephant with sprouting water from its trunk. Their quiet pool is nice too.

Another vote for the BW, the pool is much more manageable with small children. The resorts are similar and you can always visit between them as is it only about 5-7 minute walk or you can take a Friendship boat ride between them. I would save SAB until the children are older.

The two bedrooms are similar with the BW having the best chance of a better view as the BCV is tucked behind the BC in to old employee parking lot.
