I recently visited the Beach Club Villas 11/07 and was able to attend a couple of the nightly outdoor campfire and Movie-under-the-stars offerings. They were a wonderful surprise. Since I'd never seen this offered at the resort previously, does anyone know if this is a seasonal or newly added year-round offering? I also noticed many more poolside activities(ie games, prizes, etc) for children than ever before. Anyway I sincerely hope that this attention to resort activities for family & children remains intact as this was by far the most enjoyable trip we'd had at that resort going back 6 years.

They had them in June as well. I also know that other DVC resorts have them as well so I'm not sure if it's a DVC thing or general Resort item. (well the movie and the campfire)

We've been going to the YC/BC since 1994 and last summer was the first time I'd seen it offered. We were there the night of the HS Musical 2 premiere and there was a huge party happening on the beach w/ the premiere being shown there. The rest of the week we were there, they had the campfire program every night w/ a movie. My girls went to the campfire part one night and roasted marshmallows/sang along, but then they wanted to go back into the pool, so we never did sit for the movie. I like that new addition! :thumbsup2

I hope they do this again in the summer.

Last August we watched "Finding Nemo" on the beach chairs eating smores. The kids loved it & it was a very relaxing night.

You can bring your own or you can buy the smores kit on the beach. The sticks are provided in either case.

Do you bring your own marshmallows?

When we were there in August, they gave each child one marshmallow/stick and then my girls requested another and they had enough-so they each got a 2nd one... but they didn't have smore kits the night we did it

The movies and marshmallow roast is still going on. They also have yoga in the morning on the beach. And from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM every afternoon there is a recreation cast member in the BC lobby playing with kids. However, lately adults have been involved with a large version of jenga. It's great entertainment for the kids when the adults are checking in.

also, Lilo and Stitch were hanging out in the lobby when we were there in Sept. Stitch was literally laying on the floor playing games. There was also a table set up where they were teaching kids how to make towel animals, and then they decorated them with eyes, etc, and gave them to the kids. I just love the Beach Club!

I'll say this........the level of attention and numbers of activities that have been placed recently at the Beach Club has reached new heights. I was thoroughly impressed. My daughters loved the towel sculpting table that housekeeping had every morning in the lobby. They made it a point to get up early every morning to get down to the lobby, which is no easy feat. I even noticed an increased prescence of "management-type" cast members scattered throughout the lobby, approaching guests and offering guidance and help if it was needed. The place was running on all cylinders. It was a pleasure to be a part of it all.

I am so glad I convinced my family to try the BC for a split stay at the beginning of May! It'll be their first time staying there (I stayed at the BCV for a girl's only weekend)~ :cool1: :thumbsup2

They also had 7am yoga classes on the beach- it was incredible to see the sun rise as the lake comes to life.

Plus the yoga really got me in the mood to walk that 8 miles a day as a park attendee!

Saw the movies and the campfires at night and really loved the extra activities for the folks who were "parked" out.

When you enjoy something - please tell the management. I sent several emails about how we enjoyed the new activities.

I filled out a questionaire when we checked out. I was planning on sending an email when I got back home but they had several cast members with laptop computers around the baggage claim area in the lobby and one of them approached us and asked if we'd volunteer for the survey. Needless to say I gave a glowing review.

We will be at WDW the first two weeks of March. Laundry list of questions: Does this event occur when we are there? Do you need to stay at the BCV to attend? (We'll be at VWL). We were planning on the campfire at FW, but this would fit in our plans better on one of our evenings. What time does it begin? What part of the beach is it held at?

Thanks in advance!

Laurie

Does anyone know if BWV DVC members can attend the Yoga on the beach? This is something I would love to try.

Yoga, wow that would be great! Do you have to stay at the BC to attend the movie?

We are planning a trip next year and are splitting between two resorts. This one was the only one all of us agreed on. It is our first choice. So glad to hear about all the activities that will be available.

The movies at BC/YC are a piolot program and may be phased out at the end of Febuary 2008.

I posted this on the All Star Music FAQ thread in October of 2007:

Here is a little info about the new pilot program at All Star Music and BC&YC:

I called All Star Music in August and asked about the pilot program and I was informed it will only last through September but if All Star Music and YC&BC (which also has a similar program ) get enough positive feedback they may expand this program to all of the resorts! Yeah.:cheer2:
So if anyone is going to All Star Music Or BC & YC (which has a similar prorgram please fill out the pilot survey. Ask at the front desk .Please be honest but please fill them out.

The manager I talked to sent me a list of the activities they have planned for September.
For a full list of the activities please see post # 1 of this tread:

The pilot program is not just about the games and movies but it is really about better guest service.

Having more staff available at check in so guests can check in a more timely manner.
Having clean rooms ready at check in so guests do not have to wait until the late afternoon for a clean room.
Having more staff on hand so a guest can have any questions or concerns taken care of right away.

I was told they are getting the results from those surveys the next morning and actions are immediately being taken to correct problems or congratulate success.

I was told that this program is ending the end of September but if they get lots of good feedback they may extend this type of service to the other resorts as well.

I am really hoping they get lots positive response to this program.
I was told that so far there has been quite a bit of positive response from guests at All Star Music but the BC & YC has not been getting many responses.

My guess is not very many guests know this is a pilot program so they do not respond.

I was told that there is hope that with enough interest that they may be able to keep a lot of the great things happening at AS Music and YC & BC and be able to expand to other properties. I was also told that this pilot is all about trying to improve intent to return.

The manager I spoke with told me that the best thing that guests can do is when they check out of the resort, they should take the survey and give feedback (honest feedback about anything good or bad they experienced).

If you think you would like this pilot program to continue....
If you think you would like this pilot program to other resorts....

If you would like contact Disney about the pilot program the addresses are:

Walt Disney World Guest Communications
PO Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830-0040

wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

Let's let Disney know we like this new program and we want it to continue and expand to the other resorts as well!

Thanks ........And......
Have fun at Disney.

* NOTE

The management did decide to extend the pilot program at BC & YC and All Star Music until the end of Febuary 2008 but they did cut back the amount of activities that were offered at these resorts.

I am hoping that this program is extened and expanded to other resorts . I have read many good reports on the DIS boards from guests staying at BC & YC and All Star Music. Guests have reported the lines at check in are quite short, rooms are often ready at check in , they like the phone calls from the management welcoming them and saying if there are any problems to let them know along with the afternoon activities and the Movies at night by the pool/beach.
