I know the BC itself is great for children with the awesome pool. Are there any ongoing things for kids to do other than the pool if you stay at the resort for the day hanging out? This will be our first trip and any suggestion would be great!
We have done a few non-park trips over the summer, staying at the BC. The pool can fill the days all by itself. There is also the Albatross cruise for kids aged 4-10. There's an arcade and hair wraps. The boardwalk across the way has surry bikes and carnie arcade games. We also head over to teh GF for their pirate cruise or cooking class for kids. We never lack for things to do.
When we stayed at BCV Sept 2006 there were kids activities every day around SAB and in the pool too. There were a couple of CMs that had a big activity cart they pushed around the SAB area with the HS Musical soundtrack blaring and they'd gather kids to teach them the dances and perform for their parents. They also played other Disney movie soundtracks and played limbo. They threw gold coins, treasure etc into the pool. They got lots of people to do the Cha Cha slide, the Macarena, etc. This was one of my boys' favorite time of day and we tried to be around every afternoon for this. Also, they had a pirate treasure hunt around the hotel, arts and crafts, etc. Most of it was centered around the SAB area but not necessarily in the pool.
We just stayed there this past December and the kids just loved it! We lucked out and had great pool weather. They gave us a schedule of events each day for the week. Every day at the pool at certain times they had activities for the kids...bingo, beach party, volleyball. The bingo was a $1/board and the prized were valued btwn $30-$50 and at the beach party they had music, games, diving for critters and hula hoop contest. All who participated received an electronic game. My boys are 5 & 7 and had a great time. We spent 2 days just at the resort. In the mornings they made towel animals in the lobby and they had stickers to decorate them. They had a cm who had games and blocks in the lobby in the afternoon. We also one day had a late brunch at Cape May. We loved the character interaction and the food was awesome and filling. We we thrilled to try Beaches and Cream and never made it over there b/c we were so busy. Also, we went to Downtown Disney for one whole morning and we had to pull the kids away from there. I think you will not be at a loss for things to do at the BC. We loved it!! We just hope we someday can afford to stay there again.
You'll LOVE it!!! My nephews, who were 5 and 7 last time we went, had to be pried out of the pool....CMs were organizing games, plus there are sandy areas where they were building quite elaborate sandcastles. And the LOVED the slide....literally, they would have done that over and over all day if we let them.
But as others have mentioned, there are cm's around with games, crafts, etc. in the lobby. Also, the arcade was a bit hit with the boys...and with auntie and mommy, too. I mean, Pirates pinball....who can resist??
You can also walk to Fantasia Gardens mini golf from here....there's a pathway past the Swan/Dolphin area!
You will totaly love it. The Recreation Activities are varied but these are a couple that we have done during our stays: SAB Pool Party, Bingo, Water Volleyball, Campfire Sing-along, Movie Under the Stars, Albatross Treasure Cruise, Kids Island Groove Party, Wii Video Game Play, Water Relays, Yoga for All, Splish Splash Games, Pictionary and So you Think You Know Disney Trivia. A lot to do - Have Fun!
