If I put my reservation in right at the 7 month mark will it be difficult to get a 1-bedroom suite for the end of May for 10 nights?

Also...in general do you usually book your home resort at 12 months to have something to fall back on??

A one bedroom villa (not suite, that's something different) would probably be easier than a dedicated two bedroom or studio.

Book at your home resort at 11 (not 12) months out if you want to make sure you have something in case you can't change.

I always book at the 11 month mark. You never know what the supply and demand for your room type will be to chance booking at the 7 month mark at an alternate resort. At least you know you have your room.

I also book the room first and then the airline. Besides the fact that SW does not open up 11 months ahead of time, even if we were flying another airline, I want to know the room is done.

I don't book my home resort "just incase". I wait till the 7 month mark & book my non home resort. If it's not available I wait list. If a few days are available but not all the dates I need, I book those dates & wait list the rest.

I have had DVC for almost 8 years. I have almost always gotten the resort I wanted. Even a 1 bedroom Xmas week at WLV!! It came through a week before with a wait list.

The one time my wait list didn't come through was when I booked Easter week a week before the trip! I got all my dates at OKW, but wanted the BWV.

For any time in May 2013 (including Memorial Day holiday time), you could have gotten a BCV 1BR at seven months out. To get 10 nights, and if trying to reserve exactly 7 months out, you will be able to book only 7 nights the first time you try to reserve and then can call MS daily thereafter to add each additonal night until you have all 10.

Booking your home resort at 11 months out, and then trying to change at 7, is always the safest course to guarantee you will have a room for the time you want.

As noted always book your home resort at 11 months, this will guarantee you a room. Personally I think getting 10 days at 7 months out will be a challenge for sure. But anything can happen. :confused3
