Beach Boys

foxtrotter, you are simply amazing!

All the beach boys stuff is now under Brothers Records mgmt and for them to use it they have to license the tracks individually. They even had to license the Beach Boys name for this tour. So like you said, itll probably be all the surfer/car rock tunes. Though it would be nice if Bruce did a little solo of Disney Girls at their WDW performance.

This is awesome, I just finished watching 'Endless Harmony'...I just love their live performance of Heroes & Villains (without Brian too!)...ahhh I love the beach boys! :3dglasses

1) Even if they are near you, don't waste your time.
2) The Beach Boys are a licensed name, not the real Beach Boys.
3) Buy an album, insteasd.

Thats a sad way of looking at it. :sad2: Obviously you'll never get the original beach boys ever again since 2/3 of the Wilson's are dead...and im sure once the SMiLE tours die down Brian will be into the idea of playin with Alan, Bruce and Mike again.

I dont think listening to any Beach Boys music is a waste of time. Unless ofcourse its a TERRIBLE cover of 'God Only Knows' by Mandy 'i have no talent' Moore and Michael Stipe.

but hey thats me.

I think I've seen all of the Beach Boys documentaries and even those crummy tv movies that come around every few years. I love the footage in An American Band where they show Brian, looking quite unhealthy, trying to surf in his robe. Crazy, but fun.

I can see how some people have become disillusioned about the Beach Boys, they certainly haven't handled their various problems the way I would have hoped. Especially several years ago when all of the lawsuits were flying between the three main factions (Brian, Mike & Bruce, and Al). But I just have to remind myself that it's all about the music and the music is some of the greatest ever made. And even just seeing one or two BBs singing those songs is better than not seeing them at all.

Do you know if Mike has to license the old stuff that he has co-writing credit on? I vaguely remember some brouhaha a few years ago when Mike wanted credit on some songs that he said he contributed to. Now I wonder if maybe that had something to do with wanting to be able to play them on tour without having to pay the licensing fee.

I have no idea on how their licensing works. I Loved An American Band...great interviews, seeing Paul hanging out with his mullet was great too.

I completely agree with everything you say!!!

When we saw the Beach Boys at EPCOT last year, Mike said something about KOKOMO & WDW, that there is some special meaning for them with that song & WDW. I can't remember what it was though! Anyone know???

Lori

Well, I know the video for Kokomo was filmed infront of the Grand Floridian...maybe theres some sort of connection there? :confused3
