Hi all,

I'm excited to be planning another Disney vacation!

We are coming to Florida the week of Thanksgiving but would like to stay at the beach before starting our Disney vacation the week after.

I am undecided on Gulf or Atlantic. I can fly into Orlando or Tampa. I want a condo-like setting on the beach. Would like 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, w/d, etc.. Don't need a Clearwater beach type touristy spot, but would like a few fun activities for my 9 year old son.

I keep gravitating toward Treasure Island area, but I have no idea why! It must be the namepirate:

Any suggestions to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated. If this is in the wrong spot, I apologize, I can certainly move it.

Thanks everyone! :cheer2:

My opinion: if you want wide white beaches with calm water, pick a Gulf beach. Clearwater, St. Pete Beach, and almost every one on the map has nice atmosphere.

I agree - go with the gulf beaches - beautiful sand/usually clear calm waters. The St. Pete beach area is where we usually find ourselves and there should be plenty of condo type places for you to choose from - have a great time :cool1:

Thank you!

I have been doing a bit more research since hearing that the gulf beaches might be better for us. I think we may stay at Sunset Vistas at Treasure Island. I'm still checking rates, but it sounds really nice.

If anyone has had any expereince with them (positive or negative), I'd love to hear it.

Thanks again for the help with the coast decision :thumbsup2

Most families love Tradewinds Resort. Your 9 year old would love it. There are tons of choices. If Tradewinds is out of your price range look at Postcard Inn two properties down. During the week when college is in session it is quiet. Weekends is college crowd.

Also, be sure to call and ask if the resort is hosting events that you may not like. There are a lot of beach races, for example Tradewinds host the "Beach Beast". I stayed at Postcard Inn during one and liked watching the race myself.

Also try Legacy Vacation Resorts in Indian Shores. Very spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath, a short walk across the street to the beach, and a quick drive from the attractions in Clearwater Beach. :thumbsup2

HoneyMoon Island on the gulf is great!.

you can rent beach equipment, there is a cafe, and the bath rooms/ showers are clean and very nice.
