make sure you check your booking frequently as this is the second time we have lost our pre-booked seats. Virgin have said that nothing is confirmed and its all subject to change even up to 24 hours notice!!!!!!

Mentioned this on another thread, but we have never had our pre booked seats honoured by Virgin. We tend not to bother now and try and buy the extra legroom seats on the day.

We have travelled with Virgin on 16 flights now and have never lost our pre-assigned seats, I think you must just be unlucky :headache:

Today is the 3rd time we have lost our seats, I checked in online last night to be told our seats are now 2 + 1 behind. Looks like a major problem with PE reservations http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/passengerinformation/latestnews/index.jsp
Just on our way to DTD to try get a row of 3, won't let me do anything online.
Relatives returned home 9 days ago, same problem for them.
I really wanted the seats I had, so annoying.

I originally had row 26 booked til they configured the plane lost row 26 and now we are further back away from the rest of the family...
why have requests no point is there
hope you have joy at DTD and a good flight home :goodvibes

Thanks for the reminder to check.

My seats haven't changed but the flight times had. If I'd arrived when I was going to originally then I'd probably have missed my flight!

Am now taking a lot more interest in these Virgin threads - now that we are flying Virgin next year for the first time.

On the subject of pre-booked seats - does anyone have any recommendations (economy only) as to which would be good seats to book? There are just two of us - both adults (allegedly ;) ) .

Thanks yes - I already checked SeatGuru. But it didn't have 2 'good' seats together in the whole of economy other than exit row seats.

I was just wondering if anyone here had some recommendations for a couple.

I should have also said we'll be flying MAN to MCO on VS073, returning on VS074.

To be quite honest I think that's just how it is. If you get a good seat that isn't an exit row, then the one next to it usually has that 'box' underneath that restricts space.

Obviously I've not sat in every seat on the plane to check but that's the situation my partner and I usually find.

What we tend to do is book two seats, one of them listed as being 'good' and one of us get's it on the way there and the other one gets the better seat on the way back.

as a general rule though for good seats I either try to get as far forward as possible so we're in front of the wings (less engine noise) or if that isn't possible I try and get the seats at the back that are for 2 people only. (assuming a 747-400)

Back from DTD, thankfully we are flying PE, would hate to be stood in the economy line at the speed they work down there. We had no-one in front of us and it took about 15 mins, I estimate economy was 45-60 mins at opening time(8:15am)
Got our original seats, back row(26) of PE. Paid the $30 to get rid of bags.

Holiday Inn wanted $60($20/hr) to keep room til 2pm, just signed up to their Priority scheme to get it free. Might be of use in the future also.

Well worth being a member of Priority Club, particularly if you stay at Holiday Inns on a regular basis. You get points per stay and they can add up. We've had lots of free nights as a result. I was even a Platinum member at one stage when I travelled a lot with my job. Great perks. We've stayed at the Intercontinental on Park Lane for free as well as a couple of the Indigo hotels which are fabulous.

Thanks! I was considering those seats at the back. Will discuss with DH later.

This happened to us in Feb 2009 - we had pre-booked our seats 11 months out (economy only) and always go for four in a row - we were shifted about a week in advance to three in a row and one in front. Wasn't the end of the world but wasn't what we wanted ether. Wehn we got on board we realised it was down to a very large college group all being seated together. Hope you resolve your problemms.

No seats on virgin that you prebook are guarenteed, it does say on the webpage or if your call them to book its part of the script to say that seats are not guarenteed due to operational or aircraft changes.

Hi :goodvibes

We fly home on weds, was going to do olci on tues night. If our 'reserved' seats are no longer showing at that point (they are ok at the mo) what is the procedure at DTD check in? Not used it before :confused3

Do we have to get there early? Where is the office? Don't recall seeing it at DTD? Do you have to check your luggage in at that point or can you hang on to your cases?

Sorry for all the questions, would just like to be prepared if we have a problem with olci.

Thanks in advance.

Ali :goodvibes

The DTD check in is by Cirque De Solei around the back by the car park. You will only see it in the morning for the check in as you will notice the staff. You leave your cases and they are taken to the airport in the vans, that are parked there, for you. The next time you see your cases is when you land. You also receive your boarding passes here too.

Last time we used this service they closed at 1pm.

Have a safe trip home.

Just seen that you are flying from Manchester and they don't use the 747 anymore do there? But if you are flying from Gatwick they do still tend to use the 747 and the seats to aim for are right at the back of the plane where the rows of three seats together go into two. You get loads of space on the two seats together, its bliss. Try not to book the last two seats tho as the people waiting for the loo tend to lean on the back of them!!! The emergancy exit seats are horrid, for one they are smaller and secondly you have to pay extra for them, except for the window seat because of the door box by your feet, and everybody stands in front of you to stretch their legs!!!! They also tend tobe next to the kitchen units and on an overnight flight you get a light permantly on next to you, plus all the cabin crew being rather noisey... But hey its cattle class and you get what you pay for.....:)
