I just wanted to say hi and welcome to the Dis. :)

Hi
I am glad you asked this. I was thinking of surprising DH with this experience. I have only heard great things so I am sure he will love it.

Questdiver32 - if you look on wdwig.com there are some amazing reviews from people who have been there.

Love to hear from anyone who has tried it. I am interested to know what wives and kids did during the experience. Did you stay and watch? Did you venture off during the training and then come back for the ride?

As always, any info is appreciated;)

I asked about the Petty experience as well since my hubby wants to do it when we go in Dec.
If you use the search button and type in "Richard Petty" you will find several threads about it with a lot of people's experiences!!

HTH!!

Why, the ride-along of course! ;)

We went a couple of weeks ago to Lowes MotorSpeedway in NC. My husband did the driving experience. We were invited into the brief (20 min or so) classroom to watch a video (not too much info here). Then they went out to the track for the van around the track/information stuff. While they did that, we were invited to look at the cars, pit road, and ask questions. We stayed and watched. Everyonewho worked there was just as nice as they could be. Very courteous and considerate. There was cold water and cups to keep hydrated. The total experience took about 2.5 hours.

I enjoyed the ride-along, but quite honestly it was not as thrilling as I hoped/thought it would be. We went about 165 MPH around the track for 3 laps. I guess I am just a coaster gal- now that is thrilling! :Pinkbounc

Also, after seeing exactly what goes into the driving experience, I understand why it is so $$.

My DH is going to do this on our upcoming Sept trip. 8 laps enough? (other than the price). I'm so worried that he'll crash the car.

Anyone else has experience?

Thanks for the info. I guess we will hang out and watch. Both ds and dd will be curious to watch their dad drive. Good to know they have water available.

Would love to hear how it goes on your September trip. Be sure to post. And don't worry about crashes....not gonna happen (I hope) :(

Good Luck
:D

My husband did the rookie experience.. he got to drive 8 laps.. It's the most fun he has had in the last few years. It was a blast. He is ready to do it again. It took most of an afternoon, and they take photo's that you can purchase.

My husband also did the rookie experience about 3 yrs ago. He loved it!!!! He is a pretty mellow guy but afterwards he had an ear to ear grin. He told me that you have to follow the intructions, via the flags and lights, while on the laps. If you do the lead car speeds up on each lap. If you don't then you cannot go faster.

For our 20th anniversary in 2 yrs I am getting him the ultimate experience.
