Hi everyone!

I have been going back and forth on this for weeks and thought input from the pros would be helpful.

We currently have a BOG dinner reservation for our party of six adults. I had dinner there once in 2016 and really liked the ambiance but found the food, especially desserts, to be unimpressive. My husband loved the salmon he got there so I made a reservation to go back on this trip with my parents, sister, and brother in law.

I'm second guessing this reservation as my memory of the food wasn't great. I'm considering swapping the reservation for dinner at Chefs de France. I think the food is just a notch better but am worried I'm mis-remembering about the poor quality of be our guest. I know once I cancel my BOG res it will be impossible to get back should I change my mind. Please give me any input you might have to help decide between the two. We are on the regular dining plan. Thanks so much!

We went to Chefs last year - never again. The food was sub par of what I was expecting. And it was SO crowded and SO noisy because the tables are right on top of each other that the experience was overall unpleasant.

I like the prix-fixe lunch at Chefs de France. That said, I was not overly impressed by either dinner; they were both okay given the large price tags. I'm not saying I wouldn't recommend either--a lot of restaurants at Disney are about atmosphere--and both have things going for them. I definitely wouldn't cancel your BOG dinner. Like you say, impossible to get, where Chefs de France are generally fairly easy to obtain. Maybe you should wait until you get to WDW and if you will definitely be in EPCOT on that day of your trip, try and get Chefs de France. If you're going to be in MK, then you're all set. This is just my opinion. I'm sure you'll get a lot of votes for BOG actually.

I'm not a fan of BOG, a sin on these boards I know. Chefs is fairly decent food, the service can be so so or good and yes, the tables are close together. With so many good places to eat on property, I would probably go somewhere else but if I had to choose between the two, it would be Chefs.

They are both on my "approved list" meaning I'd go back - BUT we found CoF Very crowded and noisy. (Twice - once for lunch and once for dinner.) Not what I want for dinner. I'd go to CoF for lunch but not dinner. AND we've only eaten lunch (twice) at BoG and plan to do it again in February.

We think both resturants are better at lunch. As for dinner, I would pick Chef de France over BOG. Both resturants are noisy.

Check out the New Disney Dining Show on the DIS. They just did a review on BOG dinner. I would check it out before deciding.

In 2015 we went to Chefs de France for dinner for the first time. We had an ADR, but the restaurant was very crowded so we had a long wait. The meal started off fine. We each had the French Onion Soup, which was okay. Then, our server had a table with a very large party and just completely forgot about us. Someone else brought our meal and he only came back once to ask what we wanted for dessert. He never refilled our drinks or asked if we needed anything. The food was okay, but I honestly don't remember what we had because it wasn't that impressive.

We went to BOG for dinner September 2016 and have another reservation for our upcoming trip. The atmosphere was just beautiful and more peaceful, the staff much more attentive. We both actually enjoyed our meals, though I think the quality of both restaurants is about the same. Sure, there's nothing outstanding about the desserts, but overall the experience was just so much better. Besides, you can meet the Beast if you want.

When it comes to food of similar qualities and differences in services, I'd rather have the place where I'm more comfortable. To me, that makes the experience better. I'd pick BOG again over COF

The difference between food quality in France & BoG is marginal. You may prefer one menu over the other, but the difference in quality is nonexistent as far as I'm concerned.

My two-cents: Skip dessert at BoG (substitute for a salad) and make reservations for the Dessert Party.

FWIW, we will be going to BoG for Christmas Eve (& Dessert Party), and we are bringing our daughter to Biergarten for the fun, after deciding this in favor of France.

We really like Chefs and never miss it but I would agree it can be noisy. We'll probably do BOG at lunch on our upcoming return to WDW (it has been too long).

We've done both - for me, the atmosphere of BOG would will out only because I felt the food at Chef de France was only OK and the menu was limited. So if BOG, but I found more I would eat on their menu.

Since I don't love French food and I keep getting WAY underwhelmed when I try to give it another chance......I would go for BoG for the atmosphere haha

It depends what you are looking for. If you are looking for steak, there is no contest, BOG has NY strip, the same NY strip that every other restaurant has and I've eaten it at many of them. Chef's de france has Filet and while not the greatest Filet, its much better than the NY strip. We just ate at both about a week and a half ago. I liked the meal at chefs more than BOG. Frankly the best part of BOG is the rolls and its frankly subpar if you aren't sitting in the west wing. Chef's can be noisy but it depends where you are seated too. This past time we had fantastic service. One time we went, the service was ridiculous and took over 2 hours so its hit or miss if you need to be somewhere. It also depends on what the other plans are. If you are planning to do MK after dinner then it doesn't really make sense to switch.

Chef's is also typically easy to get so maybe you can fit it in at another time. As you mentioned, if you cancel BOG, you aren't getting it back.

Thanks for the input everyone! Is the food at either of the Mexico restaurants in Epcot any better than chefs/BOG? Maybe I should try to find a completely different option.

Has the rest of the family been to BOG? The theming is so immersive that it makes BOG a must-do-at-least-once meal for me. We love Chefs, too - DD, especially, wants to get the escargot every visit.

My husband and I are the only ones who have been to BOG (or Disney world in recent years for that matter!). Myself and my sister are the only ones who really get super into the Disney spirit so I'm worried about the food being disappointed for the rest of the party that doesn't care as much about theming. Such tough decisions!

I can't help you but curious too. I'm debating between chefs and San angel inn myself.
