My hubby looooves French onion soup. Would he be able to swap his dessert out for this soup at BOG lunch on the dining plan?

Or can we use a snack credit for a soup in addition to our meal credits?

How does this work with advance ordering & being on the dining plan?

What has been your experience?

Yes. BOG gets this question so often that they are actually listing the soup as a dessert on menus.

We did that last year, and the French Onion soup was wonderful! It turned out to be way too much food, so next time DD and I will likely share the roast beef sandwich, get one soup instead of dessert and another soup for a snack credit. I already have 2 lunch reservations for late August for lunch - we have the free QSDP. We'll also do breakfast there! It's a good meal, and so worth it on the dining plan.

It will be no problem at all to swap a soup for your dessert. We did it last year and only ordered 2 meals between the 4 of us. It was more than enough food for everyone.

My husband loves French onion soup too and we swapped out his dessert for the soup. We pre-ordered it that way and no issues at all.

I didn't even think about replacing the drink!

So I could have soup, entree, and dessert... all count as one QS meal?!

I need to drink more (free) water anyway...

They wouldn't let us not get a drink last time. And I really don't drink soda! I got lemonade so it was fine, but really I almost always drink water with lunch!

Next time I'll see, because really I don't want anything other than water.

That's strange. Maybe you were there before they officially changed the DDP rules? According to the DDP they have to let you switch either the drink or the dessert for anything that's considered a snack credit.
We did this at almost every QS place we ate.

I think it was. We had good luck most places, but at BOG they insisted we get a drink on the DP. Also France bakery - the girl was quite snippy about it and wouldn't allow any subs. Well, snippy isn't the exact word I'd use but I can't use that type of language here! LOL!

We traded one dessert for a soup, but they had us order a dessert and then called back to the kitchen to swap it for soup. The dessert came out instead of the soup, but the server quickly replaced it once we told her that we were supposed to get the soup instead. This was last November. I'm glad to hear they added the soup to the dessert menu!

We replaced our drinks with soup in January. I had heard of people just a week or two before us being told no, but we didn't have an issue at all. They rung it up as a bottle of water - Don't Bring and then just called back for the soup. While it was far from excellent French onion soup it did the job on a cool January day when both DH & I had slightly sore throats.

They made a mistake with ours and did bring the bottle of water but they had no problem replacing it when we explained the situation.
It was a great meal!

There will be three of us using 2 DDP credits. We might switch our drinks for soups. Then one of us can just order a drink OOP if needed. Best deal.

So if I were to use one counter service credit could I say order a sandwich and swap out the drink and dessert for two soups? Also, are their cups for ice water by the fountains or do we have to order that? I've been there before but can't remember how the ice water works.
