We had an ADR for 4:10PM on 9/16/2013. My sister and brother-in-law came down from "The Villages" to spend their 40th anniversary dinner with us. We had to check in at the booth and were not allowed over the bridge until our pager buzzed. We waited on the bridge for about 20 minutes and then were seated about 4:30PM. We were in the dark room with the rose and the thunder. It was fun. DH had the steak, BIL had the pork and sis and I shared the saute shrimp and scallops in a pastry shell. The food was good. Since it was their anniversary they got the "grey stuff". We shared one cupcake for fun since we were stuffed. All the rooms were packed and we were one of the first families to finish dinner and visit the Beast. We got some good shots. We picked up the tab and they were very happy.
Before we went to MK we stopped at the Polynesian for "old time sake" since they honeymooned there 40 years ago. I went to concierge to obtain the plastic leis, and they came out with real orchard leis. Sister was impressed and went over to meet the women that was making the fresh flower leis. She asked if they went to the luau 40 years ago, since she was the MC, and of course they did. It was a great "magical moment" for them.
On the monorail from the MK to the Poly we had a car full of anniversary couples. Two couples were married on 09/15/1973, and one couple was married in 1963 and celebrating 50 years, another couple was celebrating 25 years. That was a weird experience and we all shared some great smiles.
