Be Our Guest Breakfast Price Increase

I never said it was reasonable. But if it was so out of line it was doubly silly to let the child order a second portion. But it was comped anyway, right? I don't go to WDW expecting food prices to be reasonable. Just like any other venue where you are pretty much a captive, prices are high. But the costs are not hidden, they are not kept secret. I wouldn't go anywhere, WDW or at home, if I wasn't comfortable paying what they were charging.
All this time I thought this thread was about the prices being expensive. Not to question people's decision making, and a forum to make personal attacks on people. My very first statement was about prices being expensive and your very first reply questioned the decision to give a hungry infant food.

Totally inappropriate.

And furthermore, unless a QUANTITY is given, a price is kind of hidden. You only know how much you are paying, without knowing how much you are getting, it is incomplete.

Gas...25 Cents!!!!!! Wow that is cheap. Oh. I forgot to tell you, that is per teaspoon.

Where did I say to starve a child? The complaint was the food was too expensive. The child had already had one meal, so yes, I would question ordering another serving if the cost of the first one seemed outrageous. Leave the restaurant, and go find something at a food cart that is cheaper. No where did I say starve the child for the rest of the day.

Your points was $26 was ridiculous for breakfast for a child. I agree. However the way you worded it sounded like that was the cost of one meal. It was not.

The thread is about how crazy expensive BOG is becoming with two price increases before it's breakfast's first birthday.

I think the point some were making is that the menu is published and available for guests to decide in advance if they want to spend that much money. I think the point some were making is that it was implied that for $26 one only gets two bowls of cereal which is not correct. I think the point was a single meal should have been more than enough for a 1 year old and the extra expense was optional - as was the first meal.

A child's cereal meal consists of MORE than Cereal, there is also Fresh Fruit, Pastries and Milk & drink - which should be more than plenty for an "infant" or "1 year old.". The quantity of food is not hidden, they actually have photos of meals if you pre-order online or if you order at the kiosks. The decision to purchase another meal was again a decision that was made with full knowledge what it would cost. To purchase the additional meal for a 1 year old is on the parents, not Disney.

Yes, the prices there are now crazy, the decision to allow guests to now not only share meals but to get inside and not even purchase meals is crazy ..... but for every one of us who pays these new prices ... kinda on us too.

If we want to send a message - everybody go in and buy just one cupcake!

I think it's gotten to the point that they should just convert BOG to a total TS restaurant for all meals. I will never eat breakfast there at those prices. You have to make an ADR to eat there anyway. I don't get why with its popularity they just don't do it.

It's what it should have been since day 1. o_O

There are now two things that I avoid like the plague in the MK.
  1. Wishes Dessert Party... Doubled the price overnight, eliminated assigned seating and not really a great view to begin with.I enjoyed it at $25 but no way I'm paying it now. But they did add a nice centerpiece, table cloth and a flute of bubbly apple juice . LOL
  2. BOG breakfast...I have better things to do with my money and my time than to pay $20-$25 for a breakfast sandwich and some previously frozen pastries or instead spend a few dollars for a cup of coffee and then walk out the door just so I can be ahead of the crowd to ride another over-hyped attraction in the 7DMT.
Unfortunately I think it's going to continue to get worse. Disney keeps on making dramatic price increases (and often with cutbacks) and so many line right up smoking the pixie dust saying, "Thank you may I have another." As someone that loves Disney it's frustrating, but I can't say that I don't blame them. Let's face it, it may have started with a mouse but it ends at the bank.

Oh, please. Enough with the hyperbole. This child was not starving in the street.

Did they expect that a second bowl of cereal would be free? Did nobody think to bring snacks that the baby could have eaten? Did someone else eat the baby's pastries and fruit? I'm very confused as to how an infant could consume a pastry platter, fruit, and a bowl of cereal... and still be hungry enough to necessitate a second breakfast order.

$13 is an absurd price, but it does not "cost $26 for breakfast for an infant." I'm an adult and my usual breakfast is a spoonful of peanut butter on a single piece of toast. I'm just not paying $13 for it.

Yeah, I realize there's a reason for the old saying "different strokes for different folks", but I'm constantly shocked at the people here who refer to those pastries as "amazing" or "fantastic", etc. I guess they'd really be blown away by the day olds from the Walmart bakery, because that's their equivalent.

I was really bad at the "stuff" aspect of having a baby when my kiddo was that age. my diaper bag consisted of my regular purse with a single ziploc bag with another ziploc bag tucked into it, two diapers, and a travel pack of wipes.

But I will tell you what paying $26 for enough cheerios to feed my kid would teach me: keep a baggie of cheerios in my purse too. Mine at 1 year old was not really eating pastries and fruit yet, but I do think at most places that serve breakfast (even at disney) you can buy a serving of cereal for a few bucks. Not at BoG. That is NOT the model here, there is no cereal "a la carte" just for the cereal. It is a fixed price multi course meal for way too much money.

We all learn stuff the hard way as parents. This is not a major parenting fail but honestly if it had been me 1) I probably WOULD have spent that much on the second cereal (1 can be a little young to understand the concept of delayed gratification) and 2) I would have been mad at myself for not understanding the situation better at the restaurant and not being prepared rather than being ticked at Disney for how the system works. The prices are high but if I make a decision to suck up and deal then it's on me really, not them.

Frankly this is why I am choosing to mostly book buffets with my son, he is kind of picky and knowing he will eat just the mac and cheese but not the veggie sides and not the appetizers at some places makes me wonder if he will get enough. But he will be 8, if he is still hungry after a regular menu TS he'll just have to wait til later for a snack :)

This thread is a perfect reminder of no matter how bad Disney will try and gouge the customer with outrageously overpriced food, there will be those who will cape up for them and criticize people that would only order coffee or a cupcake, a perfectly legitimate thing to do seeing as Disney actually left the option available.

Whether or not it lasts is not the point: you're willing to criticize someone for spending only a few dollars to "cheat the system" and ride 7DMT once or twice before the park opens more than Disney charging you TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS for a breakfast sandwich that probably has a food cost of 85 cents.

$8 for a coffee and a cupcake is not exactly cheap either! I live on martha's freaking vineyard and for $8 I can have a breakfast sandwich much better than what they are serving at BOG with local eggs and fresh veggies and local meats, plus fresh brewed local coffee. Believe me, I am used to being gouged! But $24 for that is even too much for me :) I'd rather spend $30 for an aycte buffet or family style breakfast!

Very true, but it's more in line what it would cost you to get a drink and pastry at Starbucks (not just the Disney locations) so in that regard it's not as bad. Personally? We'd eat beforehand, each grab a coffee and get on our way. We all pay Disney more than enough money to be at their parks/resorts/etc, getting to do a couple spins through 7DMT for an Abe Lincoln feels like a little value going back to the customer.

Ugh, why is BOG such a cluster?! Seriously. There aren't many options for breakfast at MK, quick service or table service. I agree with others who say it should just be table service 3x a day. I'd pay for a decent TS breakfast, but until then there's no way I'm paying $24 for quick service.

Thank you. I have said this before. They are Sam's Club quality pastries.

I was so excited to get my 8:05 breakfast reservation for June last week... now not so much. It went from $19 for everything to $24 for entrée plus extra for a beverage? You're paying just to be there. Geez.... Now I have to decide if it's worth getting into MK early for that.
We have the same, but think I am going to order all of us kid meals.
