Be My Guest Disney Dining Review-New Updates Pop Century FC & Sanaa

Yum - love seeing the F&WF fare! Until this year, we have always gone in October (well, twice - we haven't been 4,850,243 times like every other DIS'er :rotfl2:), and I love the F&WF. We are now stuck with the school schedule, so August it was. :scared: ANYWAY, I totally know what you mean about avoiding WS on the weekends! We stayed at an Epcot resort last time, and we had to fight those crowds to get through Epcot a few times. It was SCARY!

Thanks so much for sharing your F&WF photos - yum, yum, yum!

Next day we decided to try something new for lunch so we went to Columbia Harbor House in the MK. This place was super packed with long lines but it was peak lunch time. We both had the shrimp with fries. The shrimp were great and the fries were you average Disney fries not bad but certainly not excellent. I don't think I would go back but it was nice to try something new.

Here are a few more food and wine pics!!

My beloved Fishermans Pie in Ireland :)

Moet from the champage and dessert booth, so refreshing.

Oh man, sorry the fries at CHH weren't good. Try the chips sometime, they are good.

Is that a cup of cocktail sauce with the shrimp. I love cocktail sauce with a lot of a kick from horseradish but I would imagine it wouldn't be that lively of a sauce if they serve it.

I went back and read your F&W updates as well. I may be traveling in October this year so I'll be able to finally see it for myself. Noted to go during the weekdays though! Good advice I'm sure. :)

Yes that is cocktail sauce, not too much of a kick to this one. I hope you do get over for F&W, it's my favorite event. I am so torn over going to DL or going to F&W this year. I will decide later on in the year. You are correct the weekends are insane during the festival and people get really drunk and rowdy at night.

The next day we were suppose to leave to go back home, however since we fly standby we could not get a seat home. Oh well lets go back to Disney!! Since we just needed a place to crash we picked the Pop Century. For dinner we tried their food court. We also walked over to AOA food court and nothing there appealed to us. It's funny though as we walked around looking at our food choices back to Pop it was just plain digusting :guilty: All the food looked cold and yucky just sitting out and we had no car and didn't want to get on a bus so we settled. I had a goat cheese flat bread which was okay and my DH had the most disgusting plate of fish and chips he had ever had. I know lots of peope rave about this food court but I would never go back. I would stay at Pop again though as it's a great resort for the money.

The next day before we headed to the airport we decided to catch a bus over to the AKL Kindani to one of my favs Sanaa. I had taken my DH there back in Feb when we were driving through Orlando from Ft Meyer and we could not wait to return. We were craving great food after the Pop Food Court the night before. We arrived right at 11:30 and when the open they do a little show with drums which was an extra special treat. We are huge curry fans and this place doesn't disappoint. We started out with the bread appetizer that includes some really great chutneys. I like the jalapeno the best! I ordered the spicey durban shrimp and a new addition to the menu mahi curry. I am not going to lie I was kind of nervous to try it but it was one of the most delicious entrees to ever touch my lips!! It had the perfect blend of spice. My DH had the spicey durban chicken and the beef short ribs. The ribs are so tender they just melt in your mouth. Another great tip about Sanaa is if you have the Disney Visa you get 10% off at lunch! I cannot wait return the restaurant it has the animals, great service, beautiful setting, and some of the best food I have ever eaten,

Glad you got more Disney time! I've stayed at POP twice and have not eaten at the food court.

Sanaa on the other hand always looks so good but I am not a fan of spicy food so have never booked it.

They have non spicey entrees there so you should consider for a future trip for something different :)

Late to the party so belated congratulations on your pregnancy - you must be so excited. I am all caught up with your review3s and the one thing that really stands out is how gutted I am that I missed out on the Grey Goose Cosmos Slush this time. I have no idea why I didn't get it; must have completely missed the stand :confused3

I know it is a long time ago now but your meal at yachtsman looked fabulous. I am taking my DD there for her 21st Birthday dinner. It is one of those places I have always wanted to eat but never got round to. I am hoping we enjoy it as I really want to take hubby there in October.

Thank you!! The Slushie is well worth it so please try it this fall. I hope you enjoy the YM as much as we do, the food is just incredible. What I would not give to have one of their delicious rolls right now with sea salt butter!

:woohoo: for more reviews!

CCH food looks okay, but I’ll take the F&WF fisherman’s pie and champagne! YUM!

What a shame about the food at Pop. :(

Sanaa looks and sounds amazing. I am hoping to stay at AKL at some point before tooooo long - I love that there are so many good restaurants there.

Hi Lori. I hope all is going well with your pregnancy! :goodvibes

May I just say that flatbread looks probably as bad as it tasted but the fish and chips at least 'looked' promising. Sorry that meal disappointed.

I know you are a big Sanaa fan so I'm glad that it was just as fabulous as before. I had to cancel our ADR in August but it's still on my must try list. That combo of great food, the animals outside, and a beautiful restaurant sound like the perfect dining trifecta!

Everything is going great! I am happy I can eat like a normal person again after 2 months of misery! I hope you make it to Sanaa one day it's wonderful :)

First of all, congrats on the pregnancy! :goodvibes

I'm glad your lunch experience at Sanaa was so good. It's impressive that you like the jalapeño accompaniment best, since it has a pretty strong kick. Not everyone can handle that one! Glad to hear the fish curry was also enjoyable - I'm interested in trying it next time.

Also, agreed on the Disney Visa discount! This past trip, we didn't have TiW for the first time in a long while. Instead, I started looking for Passholder and Visa discounts - to our surprise, they applied to many of the restaurants we like! (Artist Point, Jiko, Captain's Grille, Sanaa, Flying Fish, Grand Floridian Cafe, The Wave, etc). Even though the discount is only 10%, I'm still glad we didn't pay $100 to renew TiW. :thumbsup2

Thank you. :) Onto the jalapeño chutney, being from Texas the hotter the spice the better haha! Also I am pleased that the Disney Visa has expanded their discounts offered and it's a nice perk having the card as I rack up points on the thing all the time. I love my free Disney dollars for my trips.

Hi Lori! I finally have the (DIS) time now to get caught up on everyone's reviews. I just got to page 2 where you announced your pregnancy... two months ago! While I enjoyed doing the live thread, I'm discovering now how much I missed by not being able to keep up on the other dining reports. I guess I should be grateful though that I found out before the baby was born.

Anyway, CONGRATS TO YOU AND PETER!!! :woohoo: :cool1: :dance3:

Now back to reading the rest of your report. :thumbsup2

so excited for you to have a little prince or princess added to the Dis....
Congratulations..

Thank you so much for your great photos and reviews ...I have not heard any really good reviews of the BOG ..so probably wont try it even..

IF you ever cant get a reservation at Yak and Yeti...try their counter service...not a lot of options but the beef and noodles were delicious and enough for two people...

Thanks again
