Be carful trying to "tweek" ADR's

After making all of my adr's on my 90 day mark last Sunday and getting everything I wanted within 5 minutes of what times I wanted. I wrote it all down and put together my itenerary and realized that I had made my 50's prime time dinner to close to my sci-fi lunch. Knowing that I needed to move it out at least an hour or so later from 3:10 to maybe 4:30-4:45 I called into a CM today about 2:15pm CST(I waited till later in the day to give everyone a chance to call on their 90 day mark and not take something away from them). Guess what happened? With the new system if there is nothing available it gives other dining options. The CM said, ok I found you a 4:20 will that work. I said sure. I was sooooo excited:banana: then she starts stating all the verbage that they have to do and recapping my request. She says, ok I have a 4:20 reservation at Sci-Fi for a party of 6! WHAT!!! NO I stopped her and she immediately said, please hold for a minute. I knew that I was going to get cut off but I didn't. She came back all frantic saying that when she confirmed the 4:20, it gave up my 3:10 at 50's and there is nothing left!!!:scared1: She again put me on hold saying that she wanted to get a manager to help her and again I thought i was going to be cut off. Again she came back to the line..............this time with a calmness about her and said that she was so sorry that she couldn't find my 3:10 but she did find a 3:20 and I said book it! I think I will keep what I have and just have a desert or shake at either sci-fi or 50's PT! That was close call and of course you know that I want to call and just recheck my ressies' now:laughing:
I really appreciated her not giving up!
 
Glad they were able to work it out for you. I have wondered about that myself, so I will probably keep what I have and not try to change the times around. :)
 
I wondered how tweeking would work.

This was the first time I ever booked ADRs and my 'system' was flawed. I already know there are a couple tweeks needed.

I had hoped that I could make new ADRs before cancelling old ones... I want the new confirmation numbers before I give up what I've got
 

Or just make your NEW ADR first and cancel the OLD one second!

Can you still do this......I thought it is tied to your reservation or phone number so they can "see" all your dining reservations......

I am sooo nervous to call and even check on mine because some of the CM's do not seem to have that much experience.
 
You can make a new reservation on the same day as an existing one and then cancel the other. I did it today. We had a 4:50 for LeCellier on Aug. 19
and I called and got right through at 7 today. I was able to get a 7:30 on the 19th so as soon as Carly gave me my confirmation number I told her I had a 4:50 on that day to cancel. I gave her the confirmation number for that and she took it out of the system. I will probably call back in a few weeks to confirm all my ADRs but it is possible to make a new one and cancel another.

Maybe you can give me a little luck when I call next Wednesday to make adrs
 
After reading about all the quirks with the new system I think I will "tweak" ADRs a little differently. I will call at 90 days and make my ADRs with my confirmation number and home phone. Then if I want to change an ADR I will make it without a confirmation number and my cell phone number. After I'm sure I safely have my new ADR I will call back and cancel the first one.
 
Just tell them you want to check to see if something is available first before changing something. I haven't had a problem doing this. Sometimes I want to check to see if something is available, but moving something depends on two restaurants being available. The CM's are always cooperative. Or just wait till after you book the new time to ask them to cancel the other one.
