Be careful!

And Hulk & Doom both have shoulder restraints, not lap bars. If someone isn't smart enough to know they need to pull their restraint down and buckle it, they shouldn't be riding the ride. Or any ride that goes above 2 miles per hour for that matter.
Yes, the Hulk & Doom have shoulder restraints, not lap bars & yes you must pull them over your head & buckle... there have been times where I had trouble getting the buckle to click... and it is the job of the cm to check... so there is no reason to jump on someone for using the wrong word bar or belt...the cm didn't do their job point blank..... I think that was to point of the post...not what type of belts are on rides.. and as a Mom, I would want to be forwarded... once you are buckled in, it is hard to reach over & double check your child & they don' t give you much time to do your child & then yourself...so the cm's should do what they are suppose to do. Most cm's do... but there are always the few that aren't... we are speaking safety here... not that my pizza was burnt or something

It is un-nerving that the people who monitor the ride while it is in motion did not notice that you were obviously not properly restrained. Are there not viewing areas during the ride for this purpose, to make sure that the people riding the ride are safe?

On a lot of these rides where the seatbelt attaches to the harness, the seatbelt is also used as a measuring device. If the bar or harness does not come down far enough to belt, the ride manufacturer does not feel you will be safe riding the ride.

Jeremy
That is true.

I know on Cat in the Hat there are cameras everywhere because you can see them. I saw one time that there was alot of trash and hats and sunglasses all over the track and reported it when I got off, but the CM said that they already know because they can see that. I've always assumed that every ride has that kind of monitoring on it. Am I right?

You are correct. There are people monitoring the ride. It should have been caught.

MickeyFan brought up the shoulder restraint that has the belt on the end of it on Hulk. The shoulder restraint should "lock" in place even if the belt isn't latched but I would still be freaked if I couldn't latch the belt.

Yeah, the restraints must lock into place by themselves seeing as how the buckle can be unhooked by the rider during the ride. If the restraints didn't lock, and a little kid decided to play with his seatbelt buckle while in the air on Doom, that wouldn't be good....

Do you know for sure that these buckles can be unbuckled during the ride? Have you done it? I would hope that not to be true, they must have some sort of "extra" saftey feature besides locking restaints.

I know on Montu that someone unbuckled the seat belt buckle on the lift hil. The ride stopped as a ride op climbed all the way up to check and re-buckle the belt.

OMG!!! At least the ride stopped, maybe that is the "extra" safety precaution...the ride stopped...wonder if it could unbuckle on a loop!!! I sure hope not!

I for one have experienced what can happen to a child who is not properly restrained on a ride! This was at not at any of the Disney or US parks, but it was very scarey. My young son was on bumper cars afew yrs ago and it started before he buckled his belt. So he soon forgot the restaint and was being tossed around in his seat and ended up hitting the bar with his mouth and was bleeding badly. I was yelling to the operator to shut the ride down the whole time. she finally jumped in the car with him and steered it away from other cars so it wouldn't get hit again! I was very angry that he wasn't restrained by the operator! He was tall enough to get on by himself, but it was the last time i trusted any one in an amusement park to make sure he was restrained properly!
