Just wanted to let you know that Pepsi has started putting out 20-pack cans instead of 24. They got me on this one. But it won't happen again. Be careful and make sure that your not getting a 20-pack thinking your getting a 24.
I have noticed also that they are selling 1.5 liter bottles along with 2 liter. And when the stores around here have the big bottles on sale, it has been the 1.5 for .99 instead of 2 liter.
A prev poster said they had already done something with the 12 pack cans...what was that?
I've noticed 8 packs, 8oz can packs, 16oz bottles, 1.5 liter bottles, and all the other nonsense to bring the price back down to what consumers were used to seeing, but in smaller portions.
Haagen Dasz "pints" are now 14 oz. Not really a pint! (not that they have that word on them anymore, but still, that's what you're expecting in that size)
It's funny when your eyes skim over the size, but your hand says "huh?" when you pick it up.
Companies have been doing this for the past few years. They started selling their products in smaller sizes and keeping the price the same (instead of raising the price).
Take a look at OJ (it's not a 1/2 gallon anymore), ice cream (it's 1.5 quarts no longer 1/2 gallon), and bacon (rarely found in 1 pound packages in grocery stores). These are just a few, but there are more out there.
It's not that they're readily available, it's that they'll place the smaller packs where the larger packs were originally with a lower price point. Case in point with the new 1.5 liters, I've seen set ups at the front of the store "99 cents" for these bottles. They look close enough to a 2 liter, but it's really a 1.5 liter. People will grab it thinking they're getting a good sale, but they're really not as 99 cents is the price point for that size. And then there's sales that put the 2 liters on sale for 88 cents.
When you walk into a grocery store, name brands pay to have their product on a particular shelf or spot in the aisle. That's why you'll see the name brand at eye level, and the off brand stuff on the bottom shelves. Especially holds true with spaghetti sauces. Ever notice how Ragu dominates the eye level shelves, while Classico and Bertolli's on the shelf below. Towards the bottom, you'll find the Ranaldi and store brand.
I LOVE Diet Pepsi. I was raised on it as my father worked there for 27 years. We stalk up on pop when it goes on for .99 cents. Which doesn't happen often but when it does we pick up 60 bottles (30 reg & 30 diet). People think were crazy but we save so much money doing it that way. I really wish Disney would sell Pepsi...I hate bottled coke and can only drink the fountain. But we do go into town and pick up some pop for our hotel.
