At 3:15 AM our 17 day WDW Wedding Trip Begins. After packing 4 rolling bags, a backpack, another shoulder bag, and my bride's wedding dress we were off for our 10 minute drive to Bradley Airport. We parked our car with our usual crew at Executive Valet, who we'd reccomed to anyone leaving from Hartford, and 5 minutes later we were cursing the fact we used Song instead of Southwest.
This was our first time using Song and all i knew was that they were the same price as SW, but with TV's. Good enough for me to try them. We get to BDL only to find check-in kiosks. I'm a sucker for actually talking to a person to get me my bags on board. We ask the "greeter" and i use that term loosely, what we need to do "go to the screen an hit the buttons". thanks for the help lady. Well 24 minutes, 2 reboots of our kiosk and 3 song employees later we're checked in and through security.
the people on the plane were nice enough, and reserved an overhead bin for the dress, and the TV's were nice, but I'm already filling out my comment card to tell Delta to train their kiosk employees better.
We arrive at MCO half an hour early and spot our FL Tours Driver waiting at the airport. Ricardo confirms our name, and says "I'm 1/4 mile down the street at parking spot #1" and takes off, leaving us to carry our 6 bags and a wedding dress. I feel the need to say this was the first time that anyone at FL Tours has been less than satisfactory, but right then and there we cut his tip in half. if he would have stayed we wouldn't have wasted 3 bucks on one of those luggage carts, which wouldn't take dollars so we hada use our credit card. After a quick stop and pulling into the Poly, Ricardo fills out a reminder of when we're to be picked up. Andy, if you're reading this, keep these little voucher things. they're a great reminder.
Of course the monorails are fantastic, and the boat to the MK was relaxing. It only took us 6 minutes to get to the MK one day bu monorail. 6 minutes!!! Busses usually take like 25 from POR after you wait for a bus, go around to all the stops and drive over. However, the busses at the Poly seemed to take forever, especially to DTD. I'm sure it just seems longer b/c the monorails are whizzing by overhead. But the Purple Pants were friendly as always. A few even had a good time with our wedding ears.
The night before our 3 day wonder cruise, we had 4 voicemails, including 1 from Andy from FL TOurs saying that the cruise has been relocated 4 hours away to Ft. Lauterdale, and he suggested using DCL Transfers instead of them. And frankly I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to drive 8 hours. What did suprise me was that Andy mentioned that DCL Transfers would be a more economical way to get to the cruise. That's what I've always like about FL Tours, they tell you the truth even if it hurts their pockets a little. Our DU agent was able to get us on the DCL Transfers, and although the DCL Desk Lady said that the cost would get charged to our stateroom, it never did. We went to settle our bill onboard, and it was only like $20. I asked the CM specifically, not wanting to "steal" transfers, but he said, "hmm, i don't see a charge here at all. happy wedding."
the busses to port were nice with TV's, but the mears van on the way back was disappointing. I'd be ripped if we had paid for the transfers. those vans get really cramped.
after a week at the poly, it took some adjustment to going everyplace by bus at POR. Luckily the DTD Boat is a good diversion. POR was empty, so more than a few times we had a bus to ourselves. We just got really spoiled by the monorail.
Song at MCO was the complete opposite than BDL. 4 minutes and we're done. again, the TV's were nice, but with Delta going bankrupt the previous day, i'm not sure if we'll use them in the future.
keep an eye out for our resort, restaurant, and DCL reviews in the next couple of days, with TONS of pics. If you have any questions, just let me know!
