My husband and I went solo last year for our honeymoon, and now we're going back next August with all our kids. :dance3:

My stepson will celebrate his 7th birthday :bday: while were at the world, and we want to do a fun and special dinner for his birthday.

I was thinking a character meal would be fun, but as we didn't do any of those during our visit, I don't have a clue about them.

We're going at the same time as friends, so there will be four families for a total of 20 people party: - so we need some place where we can all fit, where we can get a cake, and hopefully where they will pay a little attention to the birthday boy.

Someone said Chef Mickey's :mickeyjum: is pretty fun. Thoughts?

It gets mixed reviews but we have always enjoyed WCC. I am sure a bday boy would get lots of attention there.

I enjoy Character meals but usually find them crowded and rushed.

I think a large group could mix better at WCC. There is room to get up and move around and visiting another table, if you were split, would fit with the activities.

Have never been, but HDD gets good reviews and would likely appeal to a seven YO boy.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I'm torn between wanting a character experience, which no one else but the 7yo would care about, or just going for a nice meal.

Luckily I have plenty of time to decide. :)

I asked my 7 year old about this and he recommends the Garden Grill at Epcot. He loved that the restuarant revolved, that Chip n Dale were there, and he liked the food. We liked the food too, so it was bonus for us.
It wasn't his birthday, but he would definitely choose it for his birthday if he had the chance.

Both of my sons (now 10 and 6) love Mickey's Backyard BBQ. You would have no problems having 20 of you together as everyone picks their own seats at picnic tables. There are characters who dance with the kids, plenty of music and activities and they always make announcements about people's birthdays and anniversaries. They only have this on certain nights of the week. Plenty of food to chose from (chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers), ice cream pops/ice pops for dessert and beer/wine for parents.
