BCVvs. BWV Ressies. Anyone Find This Odd?

I booked several rooms for seven nights at the BWV recently for the first week of December, calling at the 11-month window. We later decided to invite a few others to join us, so I needed another room. I called MS and expected that I'd have to waitlist to get into anywhere (this was 10 months out). Of course the BWV was unavailable (a few nights were open in a std studio; a few in a preferred garden/pool vw; one or two in a BW vw.) However, the BCV had many rooms available. Since we have BC points as well as BW, I booked a room there.

A week later--we invited one other person to be a part of our group. I called MS--no room at the BWV, of course, but the BCV was still wide open. (Did I mention this was for the first week of December?) I remarked that I thought this was strange, and MS readily agreed.

Does anyone else find this to be odd? :confused3 I don't get it.

People like to stay at BCV in the warmer months to get the full benefit of SAB. That's my take on it.

I'd choose BCV over BWV any day. I just don't care much for BWV.

I would say that BWV owners know how difficult it is to get the first two weeks of Dec so they are booking them up to hold them/use them right away. Of course - the push to book just makes it worse!

With BCV, it just hasn't reached that level of popularity with the resort owners.

Or, some might say that BCV is more "laid back" than the "hustle and bustle" of the BWV. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :rotfl: I couldn't resist saying that.

Contrast that to my friend here at work - had 2br at BCV booked March 5th-12th and has to move it cuz his son has surgery on Feb 28th. They are moving to March 13th-21st and the only open resorts are SSR and OKW.

BCV is my home resort and I personally don't care to stay there unless it is warm and we can use SAB. To me it is all about SAB. My hubby disagrees, but if I want to stay in the Epcot area during the winter it would be BWV.

So I think that theory is sound.

You may want to try again at the 7 mos mark. There are LOTS of folks with BWV pts. I'd bet there are at least a few who have booked at BWV just to be sure of a place, and plan to SWITCH at the 7 mos mark. We are BWV owners and honestly, we do that all the time. Nothing against it, it is a great resort, it just happens to be our least fave due to our fam size, kids' ages, etc. BWV was what was being sold by DVC when we bought (and greenhorns like us didn't know about resale, sigh.)

Perhaps put yourself on a waitlist, and check again later -- you may be surprised at what opens up. Good luck, however it turns out!
