We were thinking about buying into the BCV becuase that is our favorite resorts so we wanted to stay at one of the two bedroom villas for a week. I looked online in September and a two bedroom suite was available through Disney. Now I have read how hard it is to get this as your home resort and book it within the 7 month frame. But how is Disney able to give out reservation to non DVC owners? :confused3 If I am buying the BCV I dont want some one like me a non owner having access to my home resort. Sounds like Disney is double dippin on this.

No double dippin going on here - Disney has inventory of rooms from at least two sources - they retain ownership of part of the resort's points - often around 4% to be used for rooms that may be out of service, cash rentals etc. Plus BCV owners who trade out of DVC - for example Disney Collection, Concerige Collection etc. - those points become Disney property and they rent them for cash to recover the costs that they have to pay for the exchanges

I don't things are quite what they seemed. AS I UNDERSTAND, Disney does hold back a certain number of rooms that it does not sell to DVC members in the first place. So essentially, Disney is not taking rooms that would have been in the DVC inventory in the first place. I'm sure there are several other threads on this board that describe how they handle this in much more detail.

Hope this helps to clear things up and calm your concerns.

For the record, my home resort is BCV, and I had no problem booking my late September 07 trip at the 11 mo window. I also generally have not had problems booking BCV closer to the 7 mo window, though we tend to plan ahead, so concerns of shorter booking timeframes have never been an issue for us.

Thanks for the response that makes much more sense. You also mentioned trading up or into the Disney collection or Concierge. What exactly is that?

The Disney Collection is the other Disney owned resorts, whether in Orlando or elsewhere (Non-DVC) Concierge is trades to different worldly locations, hopefully I got this right.

Also being a BCV owner entitles you to book 11 months out where as non owners can book 7 months out.......owners advantage. BCV is a sold out resort that can be purchased via resale or you can get on a wait list through Disney.

Lastly what rinkwide said goes for me to......
