Hello everyone,

Today, my guide informed me that BCV, VGC and VGF waiting lists have been closed, indefinitely, for the first time in DVC history. Aside from using the waiting list closure to market other resorts, is there any other reason as to why this is the case? To me, the strategy seems to encourage resale purchases.

I think there's a point where telling you you're 16 months out on a wait list is just as bad as not taking names. I did add myself to the BLT wait list yesterday, so that is still open.

I'm 4+ months out.

It's been that way since mid-May. Best guess is it's a sales tactic to push people toward buying Poly.

There could be many reasons, mainly that the guides are tired of folks asking them where they are on the wait list that never moves. Those 3 resorts are very popular and there aren't that many resales out there for them at prices DVC is willing to pay. When you think about it why would DVC want to ROFR a contract and not make a large profit on it? That definitely would be the case with VGC and VGF is on it's way to being like that. BCV is just very popular and less and less resales are available.

BTW, I was told last week that BLT was also closed but hadn't heard that prior. as they apparently are still taking wait list requests, I guess that isn't the case!

Yesterday, I spoke to a resale broker that informed me that VGF was not actually sold out. They are on hold to push Poly and will probably be that way for a couple years before they release the rest. Not sure how accurate this information is. Sales tactics get hard to funnel through after a while. He recommended that we wait a few months and then buy VGF on the resale market. Said prices are starting to come down, but they won't stay that way for long.
