Just back from WDW - stayed at BCV for part of the trip in a 2BR lockoff non-smoking room - # 406/408 combination - has Dunes Cove view of quiet pool, canal and parking lot - if you are standing at Dunes Cove pool and looking at BCV we were on the your RH side.

The unit was in pretty good shape - some of the tiles under the sink area were leaning against the wall (found this out whilst sweeping), there were bash and wear marks on the walls and smallish coffee and marker related stains on the main couch. The water supply was good and warm, all the drains etc. worked and the kitchen was in fine order.

What I do not get is the kitchen inventory - almost none of the items were there (outside of the plates and glasses) - when we requested items from housekeeping we did receive the items except for a whisk. They did not have any whisks even though it was listed on the inventory and no they were not going to get any either  . Needless to say I bought a whisk and now I have a extra whisk at home to be brought down for my future DVC vistits.

Funny enough OF COURSE my OKW unit had a WHISK - chalk another point up for OKW :rotfl2:

The view of Dunes Cove is quite nice and it was cool enough at night for the pool to be a quiet pool - the kids loved looking at the pool and canal and thought it was neat. We had some great CM assistance at the Concierge Desk in the BC Lobby and the admiral (greeter) was in good form as always.

Everyone enjoyed the character breakfast at Cape May and SAB as well. What I get confused by is every time we go to Cape May, they have a long line up and things get backed up - in our case there were open tables and yet we still waited 20 minutes for a table (we had a PS) - seems like logistics need some more work there.

For 2 of our days, the kiddie slide and pool in the keel (or is it Stern?) of SAB was closed and no one could tell me when it would be open - that was a bummer for DS#1 who loves the slide there - anyways, more time in the shallow sandy area for DS#1 and #2 as a result.

The temporary area for the Atlantic Beachwear store really cut down on the merchandise selection and food available. Looking forward to when it reopens in the larger space area again.

Our keys would not work in the #408 door lock and since it was 2am they were unable to issue new keys - the next day, I obtained new keys and all of them did open the #408 door lock.

My sister and her two kids (first timers) were quite impressed with BCV/BC/YC and especially with SAB and the quick easy behind BC access to Epcot and would stay again.

Overall, I would give a B+ to the state of BCV - I just wish the CM service level and attitude was a bit more even as I encountered great and mediocre service on the same trip. This is something that I have noticed at BCV and BWV whilst the service experience at OKW has been generally better and more consistent

Let me know if you have any questions

Cheers

Thanks for the report.

We had this same experience and Donald's Breakfastosaurus, in which we waited a good 20 minutes to be seated in a half-empty restaurant. DH thought it might be because they try to seat people in waves so the characters can see everyone as they come around. I wonder if that has any validity????

Interesting idea - could be to ensure characters have sufficient face time with the customers - funny you mention DB experience - we waited as well and never even got any time with the characters and had terrible service to boot! Will not go back there again

The items you mentioned about the BCV seem ok to me. Since we are getting a studio, I won't have much kitchen inventory anyway. I am back and forth over views. I worry that an Epcot view will have firework "booms" wakiing the baby, but a crowded pool view could have some late night swimmer waking the baby! Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks for the great report Jaysue!

The cape may breakfast always has a huge line. We have gone probably over 10 times and never got in without at least a 15 minute wait, always with PS's. This is the only place along with Crystal Palace where there was a wait for us. They need to get their act together over there.

I would go with the Epcot view as my request (remember you may not get it) - provided you keep the patio door closed, your child should sleep through it unless they are a light sleeper

We have been on the fireworks side with our kids who both slept through them on a number of nights

I called last week to make BCV reservations for a November trip, and the CM asked if I had request. So after nonsmoking, I said, oh maybe an Epcot view so I have a chance of seeing fireworks. To which she replied, we are no longer taking "view" requests for the Epcot side, because of the Soarin' building. :confused3 So, I just left it at nonsmoking. I hadn't heard of anyone else with this experience.

Other people began reporting this right after the first of the year. That just totally baffles me. Are they just going to pretend that Epcot cannot be seen from the resort?!?!

I wonder what requesting a "non-quiet pool view" would get you? :confused3
