We booked our dedicated 2 bedroom with 2 Q's at 11 months out, but recently added a studio for the stay July 1-5. Today a DF who lives in Florida got back to me and said she would love the experience of being there on July 4th. I figured we would have to waitlist, but no, it was available! Now to let them know!

We've done the 4th and enjoyed it. A bit of free advice (it's worth every penny). As soon as you can, make your dinner reservations for that evening at Epcot. Don't try to go to a different park that night. After the special holiday Illuminations, all the parking lots will gridlock for hours--but you'll stroll out the International Gateway and be back "home" in minutes.

Great! I am hoping that the July 3rd fireworks that they have historically done at MK will be done next year as well, and those who are around for that night will come with me then. People on another board talk about a "Wishes Dessert" that they have booked has helped them get seats for certain busy nights. I don't think these dessert parties are scheduled beyond this month, but we're going to be keeping our eyes opened for that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm actualy thinking we may have a barbecue by the Dunes Cove pool at BCV and walk over to Epcot whenever for Illuminations.

We also booked July 4th at BCV. It will be our first July vacation and we really wanted to see great fireworks.

This year, we sat in rolling hills of a farm watching the town fireworks about a mile away. You could see all the high ones across the meadows and white picket fences, but after recovering from surgery and cancelling all our summer vacations, I promised DS and DW we would celebrate in style in Disney. But I kept the secret that I really wanted to see them!!!. And sounds like Illuminations may be the best bet.

And next year I'm planning to have the family there for Christmas, the one time of the year we have never been there. They don't know yet and it will be a battle with DW's mother who will be upset if we don't spend Christmas day (as we have done for the last 5 years) in Long Island with her- Yuck. She does not understand why we "waste" our money going to Disney (which all three of us absolutely love) when we should be taking our son somewhere educational. Right, educational. If she wants educational we will go to Cedar Point, Ohio to study the areodynamics of the 14 roller coasters they have there. That's educational!!!

I hope we meet each other in July!

My DMom is nearly 90, and we spend Christmas in Cape May with her and family in our generations, and usually some Coast Guard recruits, we have to add some young blood into the mix:goodvibes, but NYE, well, that's up for grabs, and for '10 we're planning on BWV with DS and family. Those fireworks are also spectacular.

Have you been to Cedar Point? I understand the roller coasters are the best and surely they do need some studying.

Her mom is 83 and mine is 96. We took mine, who lives in Boca Raton, to Disney about 4 years ago but it was extremely tough on her and us as we had to wheel chair her around cause she kept getting tired of walking. We will probably visit her on Christmas - fly into Palm Beach, for two days and then drive to Disney. I just have to book it at the right time and I think I need more points, although I don't want to spend more money on points right now, since we are putting in a pool (another gift to myself for going through surgery).

Not been to Cedar point yet, as we have limited vacations due to my wifes nursing job. The hospital does not let her take vacation for more than about 6 days at a time and she spends one week in the summer at Lake George with her family. I don't go because I cannot stand living in a small, dumpy, three bedroom shack with 17 family members. Call me a snob but life's to short for that. I will stay home by the pool.

Enjoy your pool! I'm glad you've recovered and can go on this vacation. Watching fireworks over a field and farm area sounds lovely too. I don't picture "farms" when I think of Connecticut. We tend to travel through the cities, I 95 I think, much traffic!

The points for the week between Christmas and NYE are very high. I invited DS and family before I gave it any real thought. We stayed in a studio, but with them it's going to have to be a 2 bedroom, and at that, it will be the first time we're not in a Dedicated one, so bedding won't be as comfortable as I usually try to make it. DH and I are in our 60s, we want to go to WDW while we can and we borrow, borrow and add on when we must.

Your DM has lived a long life, good for her, and your DMiL as well. We bought into DVC to celebrate DM's 85, she had a great time, and other great times until she was almost 87, then something happened. It may have had to do with the second knee replacement, but neither her mind nor her motor skills are such that she can travel. We're not sure what to do about DS's possible wedding next Thanksgiving in New Orleans.

I look forward to spending the 4th in WDW. I love to see fireworks and so far in my experience, Disney's are the best!

Funny, that exactly the way we think of NJ. 160 miles of I95 to get through as well as oil refineries before we hit the Delaware bridge on our way to our home in the Outer Banks. Once past the bridge, we head down the eastern shore roads and enjoy the sights.

I guess that's what I -95 does. Simon and Garfunkel had the song that mentioned the NJ Turnpike and all of a sudden, the Elizabeth area refinaries come to mind. The Garden State Parkway takes you through the lovely parts imho, my heart sings when I am at the southern end of the GSP, and there really is an Exit 0. I suppose the Merritt parkway does the same in CT. I think I was on that once.

HI all! We too will be at BCV (our home resort:love:) over the 4th (arrive the 1st). We JUST released a one bedroom for the 5th through the 9th (moving over to VWL- our second "love") for second part of the trip. We are going to be a party of three -me , DH, and DD (age 26) - hope we will bump into some of you great people. As far as our 4th plans, we are just going to hang out at resort maybe do a little minigolf on the actual day and watch fireworks from bridge- not braving the crowds IN the parks that day/night -LOL!

Hi bobbiwoz,
Congratulations on booking July 4th at Beach Club with no waitlist. That is great news. To all who are traveling at the same time have a fantastic trip. That time of year is a lot of fun at Disney! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Do you go over to the parks for fireworks? I would love to live nearby, but maybe it gets "old."

mom2mizmous, we're arriving on the 1st too! Here's hoping we get to say "hi!" VWL is beautiful, and how wonderful that you'll be staying there too!

Congrats on scoring the reservation. In '08 we were there over the 4th and did the fireworks at the Studios. Somewhat short but fun nevertheless since they rarely have fireworks at the Studios. We were staying at French Quarter and the busses took forever to get there and get out. I told DD that it would be nice if we were at BWV or BCV and could just walk "home." Have a great time.
