My dh was racing in the Daytona area and we decided to visit Disney for a few days after the races. We called on 7-29 and got 2 BCV studios for 3 nights. I was surprised that I could call and get ressies for the same day. MS did have to call the resorts directly. Check-in was very busy but all went well. We were in room #'s 440 and 444. These were both smoking but only one smelled as though it had been smoked in. They overlooked the road that goes into BCV.

The room's were very nice. I just wish that studios had king beds in them since dh is 6'4". I did try for a 1 BR but none were available anywhere.

My complaint was that our room had really not been cleaned well and I was so tired from the week of racing that I did not want to bother with calling about it or with the bother of having them come in to reclean. I just cleaned the orange soda out of the frig and the salt off the table myself.

The water pressure in the shower is the worst of any of the resorts we have stayed in. I thought VWL was bad till BCV!

The guest laundry was great! All the washers and dryers worked wonderfully and it was always very clean.

The common areas were lovely and I thought the area for children to watch tv was especially nice.

It is strange how quickly it is showing wear. I noticed some spills on the carpets, etc. I guess when you have so many people in and out that it just doesn't take long to show wear.

Each time that I visit a DVC resort I am so proud of my investment. I just wish that I had done it sooner!

PS...To the Webmaster...I am sure this is not the right place to do this but could you make sure that my Dis Sponsorship went through okay? I did it a a month or so ago and the symbols for sponsorship are not under my name. Thanks

Thanks for the review. I bet it was a surprise when they said they did have 2 rooms on such short notice!

Wow, I'm considering buying a BCV. I'm sad to hear it is showing wear already! I stayed at BC last week and it really is a very busy place. Best
location in my mind (not to mention the pool!).

I guess I would consider spills to be more "use" and not "wear" and it is possible that this had happened recently and there hadn't been enough time to get the carpet cleaned. Were these in the public areas or in your rooms? I sure would hate to think that this resort was showing "wear" already, too. That would be disheartening to new owners that had not stayed there yet.

I, too, would have been disappointed in items left in the fridge, etc, but you are right, some things are easier to take care of yourself.

Great review. Lucky you to get accommodations on such short notice. Can't wait to see stay there myself in September.

Thank you for sharing your review of your recent stay at BCV. Sorry to read that housekeeping was not up to Disney standards. My only concern, when a member does not reoprt things such as this, is that Disney will not be aware of the situation & therefore does not have an opportunity ot correct the situation. I understand your feeling that it was easier/quicker/whatever for you to just deal with the problems.

Thanks for the review. We're making our first trip in October and have requested a smoking room. It's my understanding that all the smoking rooms are all in one section.

How bad (or good) was the view of the road?

We just got back from a 4 night stay at the BCV, studio room (316) on 7/29. It was outstanding. We did have a slight problem with the sliding glass door, but maintenance came and fixed it a few minutes after I called. The door wouldn't open far enough to get out on the balcony and then it wouldn't lock. They just had to raise the door a bit and it worked beautifully. I saw no wear and tear at all. I swore I could even smell the new paint smell.

My husband also commented about the water pressure, but they have the low flow heads on the showers to conserve water.

We had one of the larger balconies, but it was pieshaped, not the entire balcony. We had one-third, the room next to us had one-third and one-third was inaccessible. We were only a few steps from the elevator (right under and across the hall from the laundry room).

The laundry room was clean, but there were only two washers (one top loader and one front loader), but four dryers.

We had a water view (pool) and could barely see the parking lot past the trees.

On the fourth floor, they were cleaning the carpet near the elevator because they had large blowers drying the carpet in the area. It appeared as if someone had spilled something or it ran out of the room.

Thanks for the report...I enjoy reading all reports about BCV as we will be there on 10/10/2002...and hoping for that Epcot view. :wave:

Anyone care to post a comparison between OKWR rooms and rooms at WLV or BCV ?

are they significantly smaller ??

Haven't stayed at VWL yet (that happens Thanksgiving '03), but, yes, the rooms at OKW are much bigger than the rooms at BWV, VWL and BCV. You could probably move the entire one bedroom from the BWV, VWL or BCV into the living room/great room at OKW and still have the master bedroom left over. But all the rooms are great. They each have their plusses.

RweThereYet;

I think you are right that "use" would be a better word than "wear" in this case. The spills were in the hallways. And I really think that part of the "worn" look that I felt there was intentional to give it the "beachy feel." The rooms themselves looked perfectly new and were lovely. I was actually impressed with the sink/micro/frig area. It was larger and nicer than what I expected. I really didn't have anything to compare it to since we had never stayed in a studio before this.

Greatdanelady;

The view was not problem this time since we were only there for 3 nights. There was grassy area that fronted the villas and the road ran along that. I never noticed a tremendous amount of traffic or noise. I really don't think you will have a problem with it . I thought it was better than the standard view at the Boardwalk.
